the most ancient piece of the Monachopsis series haha!

sharing this line of work always feels tricky. people tend to project their own assumptions onto these images, people often mistake the art for the person, forgetting that who I am in real life is different. but that’s fine. ✨

in reality, this was born out of pure spontaneity in early 2019. shot by @aukzy at @arinamln’s house, right in front of the door with a floor fan on blast. I aimed for a fierce look with an ancient Persian touch, though it ended up feeling completely irrelevant. turns out long hair just isn't for me, i think(?)

but I still love how this photo turned out. there's a raw beauty to it that I’ve come to appreciate. by @juno.verso

sometimes what we consider beautiful and "totally fine" could be misinterpreted into the opposite. a form of adoration also can be misunderstood. what is "okay" for us could be "no" for others, and vice versa. different cultures, norms, and values... shaped a different perspective and situation. it seems likely grey when we talk about right and wrong and we lost in the questioning of why.

I took this photo innocently. styled up myself, putting something I love, wearing something I consider beautiful, I have tan skin, but for this context, I think it will look greater if it's darker... because I want to represent it as beauty too... which is beauty shouldn't only just white... like what the industry has constructed. that day I was just trying to channel my aesthetic sense into a concept and a character.

Everything was done. but I just found that this kind of look could turn out to be quite sensitive and offensive for some group, due to certain race issues. people can associate it with a long depressing history that stains down the relationship between two races that happened in the west decades ago. and I just realized that something is called "blackface/brownface" initially was a form of mockery toward our brother/sister of the black community, make it strongly takes root and has a bitter result that turns out to be a bad icon. now, an act of darkening our face seems always be inappropriate in any kind of way... even though I told this: "when I was darkening my skin I don't mean to imitate certain races. I just want it to look darker cause I love it. I admire it." or even though since the beginning I don't have any intention to humiliate, make fun, even discriminate against anyone... or whatever the excuses... it's always wrong and offensive nowadays. because not feeling racist when we're wearing blackface does nothing to change how it affects those who see it.

and sincerely, I do apologize to all of you who feel offended by this image. I know that this "look" might be sensitive. but, I keep going along with my post in order to make us more aware, in case you didn't know about this issue... we can learn from my unconsciousness. by @juno.verso

the feeling of regularly being out of place. never been at home wherever I am. never being part of any class. feeling like a lone wolf on the unknown world. "Monachopsis" is all about my persona in my imagination of an alternate world. where I can find another me, just like fantasy movie characters.

membekukan detik menjadi dokumen digital yang liris. tidak berada dalam bingkai bukan berarti tidak hadir. demikian itu sudah cukup membawakan makna tersendiri. tidak masalah kalau melihatnya sekejap atau lebih lama, tetap akan jadi kilas yang membuat menyelam untuk mengerti sesuatu. menghimpun ingatan lewat citra diam, hari itu cukup dia ambil sebanyak mungkin, dan disimpan sebagaimana adanya.

tujuan mungkin saja ilusi, atau bahkan umpan. tapi justru perjalanan yang memberi kesan. dengan laju setiap kita yang bisa tidak sama, semoga dimengerti masing masing memikul sesuatu yang berbeda.

sehari menapaki lintasan Tengger bersama sekelompok asing. di ambang ansietas dan isolasi sosial yang makin jauh dari penerimaan raga, semuanya coba dihapus saja hari itu, dilupakan demi sebuah destinasi yang mungkin kalian juga enggan menempuhnya sendirian.

dilihat bara mereka dari jarak langkah yang tertinggal, dari batas tenaga yang jompo... pendaran regu manusia acak yang berkumpul, berjalan bersandingan.

kami tidak saling mengenal, dan itu juga cukup.

what a feeling it is to decorate my life with their music, making everything feel as if it has paused and rewound for a little while. I wish I could experience that first listen a thousand times over.

I've been holding onto this drawing for a very long time, and it still makes my heart skip a beat. Even though it will probably never feel truly final, i decided to call this is the final version.

I love him, love them. Eirikkk!! Erlend! 🤍 see ya again in November!

regather what's left from my college days. handrawn watercolor illustartions and a concept revival.

as I am now, i don't aim to make things impeccable; i just want it to exist, letting it flow like a stream and i’ll grow it tomorrow. at least i’ve started something in my late twenties. it's fine, most of us are last minute fighter?

and yas, catacary is another side of Juno, a personal project. i'm trying to commit, i'm doing this for myself. there’s more to explore. we’ll figure it out along the way.

Yuna's WASTING AWAY EP is out now! Go give it a listen and dive in deep.

She offers 4 songs with her young indie-yuna vibe! Be Someone is the track I resonate with the most, it's both compelling and deeply personal. Even though it feels melancholic, it has enough power to bring introspective thoughts to the surface. I love songs like that, where someone pours their emotions into melodies and lyrics.

This illustration was heavily inspired by Be Someone. I created it as an attempt to capture the essence of self-discovery reflected in the song, along with the contemplative mood of The Party. It took me several days to complete, and every moment was filled with emotion. So don't you dare call it a photo collage or an AI-generated image as it has semi-realistic visual approach, I drew it from scratchhhh!

A bit more about the illustration: it's my interpretation of @yuna from my perspective. She's the kind of person whose dreams and ambitions rise higher than the tallest buildings downtown, shine brighter than the cold, blinking city lights, and stretch wider than the horizon beyond the sunset. Perhaps she’s like the stars themselves, scattered across the dimming night sky. That’s how far she goes. by @juno.verso

too much beauty to capture! I've been to this place quite a few times, it never fails to make me feel something... still, my mind really can't process what and how it feels like to see the earth's plate looming high as if it were a huge wall on your left, on your right, on the back, yet it feels that close... green colored contour combined with auburn-cinnamon looks like it sustains the sky. truly it's my inability to digest what God serves to my eyes, to my mind, it was hard to comprehend. after a massive wildfire burned black, the rain washed them away and the season made them green again, they're coming with a look like never before, too green, too enchanting, truly what it's called breathtaking.

memenuhi ruang dengan rambatan cahaya yang saling sahut. sudah dari lama, akhirnya sempat juga merealisasi apa yang selalu ingin saya buat & miliki: lampu tudung kaca patri bergaya studio tiffany. yang kesatu lampu berukuran lebih kecil berpola art deco dan yang kedua itu lampu lebih besar berpola organik --saya coba memimik tumpukan daun & kembang berkelir kecubung - nilakandi nya sri pagi.

ini semuanya serba pertama kali buat saya, pertama kali memotong kaca, pertama kali juga membuat cetakan tudung lampu meja, pertama kali menimah dengan begitu istiqomahnya. lalu, jangan ditanya... sudah berkali kali telapak kaki/jemari tangan berdarah tertusuk belah serpihan, kebaret timah kering, ketetesan timah basah, keconyos solder nyala pas lagi panas panasnya, dan sudah juga muter muter toko kaca se malang raya sampe sampe tembus planet bekasi, circa 2021-2022? 🥲

walaupun banyak berantakan, namanya juga pertamakali... aku tetep terharu, tetep proud atas dua stained glass lampshade hasil buatan sendiri itu. menyengkan tanpa harus ada batasan, saya akan merancang apapun, rancangan saya engga berbatas grafis aja, ilustrasi aja, foto boleh, styling oke, saya juga bisa bikin seni kaca seperti dua yang sudah-sudah. se nukang ituu... tapi feeling content! 💛🔮🌸🎨🖼️🌝 by @juno.verso
