First sketches I've made in a LOOONG time! These sketches of my D&D character, Palrathel, were made for my concept art class. They're pretty rough around the edges and have issues I'd like to correct, but for what it is I'm quite proud of myself. Still got quite a bit of rust to buff off these artistic bones tho :p

"Ghosts of Glen Rose" (completed in 2023... I think...)
Watercolor
While I'm working on the concept arts for my next pieces (as well as other pieces y'all can't see yet), figured I'd post this one... which I'm surprised I hadn't posted already, since I think I made this one around the same time as the Fighting Dinosaurs.
This is the first proper art piece I've made using watercolors, depicting the artist (me) witnessing the ghosts of Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon (aka Paluxysaurus) on their trackways in Dinosaur Valley.
Dinosaur Valley was one of the first (if not possibly THE first) fossil sites I ever visited. Of course, it has been YEARS since I last walked the same paths as these Texan titans, and my appreciation & understanding of prehistory has changed significantly since then. In this piece, I imagined that by the time I return to Glen Rose, I'd be able to imagine this brief glimpse into the lives these dinosaurs so vividly, one could compare it to witnessing the residual spirits of the beasts themselves.

Of course, this is just artistic interpretation! I am not capable of seeing dinosaur ghosts (no matter how cool it would be if I could, sadly). And of course, this is on the list of pieces to revisit & improve upon in the future. I like how watercolor looks, but it doesn't get along with me very well...

Been a good while since I posted anything, so I figured I'd post an older(ish) bit of fanart I made while I'm working on my current projects. This is my interpretation of a Sniffer plus some modifications (new items, tail, etc).
I immediately decided to vote for this guy since it's basically a fantasy dinosaur species, and as soon as the update came out, I set off on a great journey in my survival world to find an egg. However, I felt there were some missed opportunities with plant types and utility, so I came up with additional plants for each type (tree, crop block, small grass, tall grass) and new uses for the Sniffer itself.
Plus, the Sniffer's backside just felt blank to me, so I decided to give him a raptor-esque feathered tail, in addition to sauropod feet and a head similar in shape to Edmontosaurus.

Maybe one of these days, I can learn to make add-ons or mods and give Sniffers more functionality (or at the very least a tail).
And yes, I intend to try recreating this artwork later on.

Since it's taking a little while for my next piece to be finished, I figured I could post some progress & reference photos for some WIP pieces I have.

This piece is a (roughly) life-sized reconstruction of Thrinaxodon, a small synapsid that lived during the early Triassic period 251-247 mya. It's planned to be a part of a significantly larger project (and the largest polymer clay project I've worked on so far) as a reconstruction of the fossil of Thrinaxodon and Broomistega (a prehistoric amphibian) curled up in the same burrow. As such, this piece will share the nickname given to that fossil: "The Triassic Cuddle". The Green Salamander and Ring-Tailed Vontsira (last two images) will be the inspiration for the color scheme of the Broomistega and Thrinaxodon, respectively. More information will be posted with the finished product.

"Fighting Dinosaurs" (completed in 2023)
Polymer clay, acrylic paint, foam base
Based off of the famous fossil it shares its name with, this piece depicts a Velociraptor fighting with a Protoceratops. It's believed that the two died in a sandstorm or a collapsing sand dune, preserving the two dinosaurs, locked in combat.
This is actually my first piece I've ever made using polymer clay, and it instantly became my favorite medium. It was inspired by the works of Kayakasaurus on YouTube & Instagram
