Je moet dichtbij komen om het te zien.

In het Tuinatelier lag het vol met vormen van @basoussoren die net in een hand passen. Schaaltjes, dunne staande vormen, bollen die op knoflook lijken. Met de duim uit de klei geknepen en zo gelaten: de afdrukken zitten er nog in, de randen zijn niet rechtgetrokken.

Drie maanden werkte hij hier, bij @kfhein Volgend jaar een tentoonstelling die hij helemaal zelf vormgeeft. Ik mocht alvast kijken. by @jurihiensch

For the occasion of our 20th anniversary, we’ve launched our new series Behind the Scenes, highlighting collaborators whose work makes what we do visible, audible and legible to the rest of the world year after year.

This series consists of one-on-one talks with people whose contributions are essential to sharing what we’ve created here, and we are thrilled to have the chance to celebrate them and the years of appreciation between us.

For our fourth Behind the Scenes interview, we sit down with photographers @jurihiensch & @melaniemarsman. Seeing a side of LGW to which most of us are never exposed, they’re operating almost entirely “behind the scenes.” With their in-depth photo documentaries and signature artist portraits, they create a testament to the lush array of talent that passes through LGW each year, which we all get to experience as a result.

Mijn favoriete beelden uit het klassieke seizoen 25/26 van @tivolivredenburgklassiek. Geen ranglijst, maar momenten die voor mij blijven hangen.

Zoals @karina.canellakis, altijd een sensatie voor de lens — alles wat er in de muziek gebeurt zie je terug in haar lijf en gezicht. Of @anastasiakobekina, die als artist in residence het seizoen kleur gaf. Kijk hoe ze bij Pieces of Tomorrow volledig opgaat in Elgars Celloconcert, en hoe dirigent @daliastasevskaofficial daar lachend op reageert — dat spel tussen die twee, dáár fotografeer ik voor. En in december, tijdens haar Bach-cellosuites in Hertz, boog ze zich zo diep over haar cello dat de rest van de zaal even niet meer bestond.

Fijn ook dat er Perzische klanken door het gebouw trokken, zoals de kamancheh van @kayhan_kalhor samen met @amsterdam_sinfonietta. En Klassiek in de Cloud was heerlijk ongedwongen — slagwerker @yeons_kkk tijdens een concert van @lonnekevanstraalen paste daar perfect.

Verder in de reeks: @murielbostdorp tussen de lasers bij Unravel, het theatrale universum van @compagnielatempete, de harpen van het @radiofilharmonischorkest, en als afsluiter @cellooctetamsterdam — swipe voor het hele panorama.

Who says summer is only for the beach? 🏖️

Utrecht's museums are open all summer long — and that's exactly what this campaign celebrates. Proud to share the cover and back cover of the new UIT magazine, out now for free all over Utrecht, rolling through the city on the @flyerman cargo bike and popping up in bus shelters near you.

We shot this at @centraalmuseum inside the Gerard van Honthorst exhibition. Photographing between masterpieces — some on loan from the Louvre — is quite the challenge, but that contrast is exactly what makes these images work: beach vibes meets Golden Age.

Met Nikola Fin — for @uitagendautrecht ✨

Nikola is graduating from @hku_utrecht in Image & Media Technology with Remembering Frequency — an installation built from salvaged lamps, old televisions and analog static. Tune the radio dial to a "station" and you land in a year: 1990, the view from a grandparents' veranda in Serbia, a childhood memory just before everything changed. A time machine made of retro tech, telling the story of migration, memory and the strange comfort of nostalgia.

A pleasure to meet someone who turns daydreaming about the past into something you can step into.

See it 26–28 June at HKU Oudenoord.

Met Siobhan — aka @siosorangecore — for @uitagendautrecht ✨

Sio is wrapping up studies at @hku_utrecht in Music & Technology, and what a universe got built along the way. A self-developed electronic instrument, a debut album called Implosion, and the @bitcrushfanclub — a collective of thirteen artists touring the Netherlands and Belgium with live performances, expos and DJ sets. All of it rooted in one idea: the collective above the individual.

A pleasure to meet someone who turns their inner chaos into something this alive.

It was a true honour to photograph Musica Temprana — an ensemble defined by its dedication to rediscovering forgotten Latin American Baroque repertoire. Captured here in three different formations, each with their own character.
They'll be performing at Festival @oudemuziek in @tivolivredenburg — one not to miss.

Wat als je brein op een ander besturingssysteem draait? Bryan Segers zette die ervaring om in muziek — Spectrum, uitgevoerd door @new.european.ensemble . Een compositie gevoed door zijn eigen leven op het autismespectrum, en de stemmen van vijftien anderen.

Activism in Music is a series in which we highlight artists who use their work as a means of resistance against oppression while also celebrating oppressed cultures.

Here, journalist, writer and editor @brechtjekeulen talks to musician, poet, writer and actor @saulwilliams; musician and sound artist @dirarkalash; composer, vocalist and organizer @kidominator; sound artist, product designer and curator Ibrahim Owais; and singer, tv-personality and actress @linndaquebrada.

To go along with the interviews, residential photographer @jurihiensch has portrayed the artists at Le Guess Who? 2025.
