Ste’ce came home from day program today and washed his lunch dishes without being asked. 🥹💜

When I first started teaching him this routine, he protested every day for about two weeks. Now he comes home and does it automatically.

I love watching him become more independent. Makes all those challenging days worth it. 💜

Made some chicken salad for meal prep and thought it would be perfect for Ste’ce’s cold lunches.

Only problem? He’s never really had it before. So I activated nonchalant mom mode and casually offered him a bite of mine. 😂

He tried it, liked it AND asked for more! Another lunch option added to the rotation. 💜

Ste’ce had a rough morning because his routine changed and I forgot to prepare him.

So I added a “cold lunch” card to his routine board to help him know ahead of time when he’s packing something different.

Sometimes it’s the little adjustments that make a difference. 💜

Ste’ce has always relied on timers to help him understand when things are happening.

Now we’re working on using the clock instead. Today, he looked at the clock as we talked about his schedule.

Ste’ce used to put the H in ADHD at the doctor’s office. 😂
Hanging off the light fixtures and everything. 😮‍💨

Now he just sits, stims and waits patiently.

I almost took a nap it was so peaceful. 😌😂

Ste’ce has plans today, so naturally he was ready to get dressed at 8am. 😂

No time yet, no timer, just gotta wait. He accepted it, gave me a 👍🏽 and went right back to making breakfast.
