Justine Smith has survived 30 years in NZ comedy - an industry that pushed most women out.

She’s seen first-hand what it takes to be a woman in a male-dominated scene, and has helped reshape it from the inside out.

The 7 Days star joins us this week to unpack an incredible career - from being inspired by Bill Bailey, to juggling hospitality with stand-up, winning the Billy T Award, ushering in a new era of female comedians, and her friendship with Dai Henwood.

“I don’t remember when they told us we were adopted – we just always knew. They were so frank about it. They were like, ‘You know your mum loved you very much, but she couldn’t look after you and we couldn’t have a baby.’”

Award-winning entertainer and self-confessed tough cookie @jussismith shares her insights about family life as an adopted child, surviving stand-up comedy in a changing industry and the proposal that swept her off her feet!
