Sometimes songs come together in a day. Sometimes they take years.

Two years ago, I wrote a synth hook that I couldn’t get out of my head. It felt like the beginning of something special, but I knew it wasn’t finished. It needed the right voice and the right story.

@just.an.orb (HENZ) was that voice.

After sending me their first demo of the vocals, I knew they understood the assignment. The demo had everything I had been looking for; the lyrics, the vocal melody, the POCKET.

I am beyond proud of us for making this track, and I hope you all enjoy it.

Nothing meaningful can be forced 💫

For the past few months I’ve been locked in on writing, recording, producing, storyboarding, directing, and really been the most creative version of myself to date. I also got a job after an unbelievably exhausting amount of time. There’s a published song out there with my voice and words on it and it’s still the beginning. With every step taken, I feel so grateful to every collaborator /supporter - old and new. But I also feel the pressure of having to be quick with everything and look put together while doing so 🤢😵‍💫 I blame it on bot culture.

And then I remember what it means to be alive. I lose track of time and space when I laugh with people. When I cook. When I pick up my guitar or get in front of a mic. When I do anything mundane. Anything I was meant to do. I remember that I write and sing and concoct all these projects to deepen our connection and co-create a kinder world. Not to participate in some sick, extractive race.

If you’ve been feeling behind in life, know that it’s your life. You can’t be late to your own life!! You also don’t have to hold the weight on your own. We live on a spinning, breathing rock against all odds. We can do things together.

So unclench your jaw, exhale a little longer, and let things unfold. And remind me to do that if you see me crashing out 🥰 by @just.an.orb
