Only a few hours into our drive from the Midwest to the Wild West, I found out my grandpa had passed away.
.
And honestly, I don’t even know how to put into words what this trip has felt like since.
.
I’ve been so excited to pack up my life and move across the country. I’ve dreamed about this new chapter, and I’m excited for everything that’s waiting for us in our new home. There’s so much to look forward to.
.
But at the exact same time, I’m grieving.
.
I’m driving toward a new life while my heart is hurting over the life and the people I’m leaving behind.
.
It’s such a strange feeling to be so excited and so heartbroken at the same time. To be laughing one minute and crying the next. To be looking forward to what’s ahead while wishing I could have one more conversation with someone who won’t be there to see it.
.
I guess that’s the hard part about life. Sometimes the biggest beginnings happen right alongside the hardest goodbyes.
.
So I’m taking this next chapter with me—the excitement, the uncertainty, the memories, the tears, and all the people I love who helped make me who I am.
.
Vegas, I’m coming for you, but today, I’m also carrying a piece of Kansas with me. There’s no place like home❤️
