Philly shows up for artists. Every single time. There’s something about this city, the way it holds space for Black film, Black stories, Black music, Black creators just doing the damn thing. BlackStar gets it right year after year, and being back here for it hits different every time.

The shorts alone had me sitting there like wow. So much talent packed into ten, fifteen minute stories, filmmakers saying exactly what they needed to say with no wasted frame. This festival is mos def for the culture, no lie.

Already dreaming about bringing my own film here next year. Not just watching from the crowd, but screening something I made. BlackStar, I’m coming for you in ‘27

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the PLIGHT Red Carpet Premiere. We are truly grateful for your presence, your energy, and your support. This film was created to spark conversation, inspire reflection, and encourage action—and we hope it resonated with everyone who experienced it.

As we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., PLIGHT stands as our contribution to the ongoing fight for equality, justice, and unity. The work continues, and this moment reminds us that we are all in this together.

A heartfelt thank you to every cast member, creative, panelist, and supporter who participated and helped bring this vision to life. Your contributions matter, and the impact is real.
