POSTS STORIES REELS

I have stayed so quiet on this issue, because it has so much context and historical hurt, and I can’t ever claim to be an expert, but I’ve been trying to understand it all, take in all the context.

The average person does not have nearly enough time to consume all the articles, documentaries, or podcasts to understand everything that goes into this issue. I made a playlist and have been working through a list of 45+ YouTube videos trying to understand it all.

People will be upset with me for posting this, some people will say I’m supporting terrorism or anti-semitism, which is unfortunate, because that will ultimately shut down a necessary conversation that needs to happen to hold the US and Israeli government responsible for so much hurt and destruction.

People might also wonder why it’s this issue I choose to speak on, why it feels relevant to me. To that, I want to say that I almost always speak up when it comes to humanitarian issues. My background is in social work, and I will always be on the side of the most vulnerable, and I think I have a responsibility to make that clear.

There’s still so much to learn. There’s still so much hurt and devastation happening. I am not claiming to be an expert, and I am so sorry to anyone that feels hurt by what I am saying here. I am not saying this is an easy issue to untangle, nor am I signing off on any form of anti-semitic violence, speech, or hate crimes, but there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Palestinian people at this time, and it’s necessary to advocate for their protection and autonomy.

The way out of this should not be more destruction, but a negotiation between world leaders that gives the Palestinian people legitimate autonomy, power, and promise for a valuable and humane future.

There’s a link in my bio to a playlist of videos that have helped me understand this conflict, if you’re interested in watching. <3 by @justhopinalong
