3 Major Challenges Facing Creatives in Kwara State and No, I Didn't Forget Police Brutality

Building a thriving creative industry requires resources, investment and visibility.

If you’re a creative in Kwara State, which of these three challenges affects you the most? by @justicevisual

I asked a question in my previous video: Why are our creatives leaving Kwara?

The truth is, talent and passion need an environment to grow

Our creatives need opportunities, access to resources, proper support and an environment where they can build sustainable careers.

And until we start addressing these things, the best of our talent will keep leaving Kwara in search of better opportunities.

We cannot keep celebrating our talents while ignoring the conditions they need to thrive. by @justicevisual

Dear Kwara State Government (@followkwsg)

The creative sector in Kwara State is falling. We are losing some of our most talented creatives to other states every single day, largely due to a lack of value and opportunity.

Talent and passion are not enough, people need an environment where they can grow.

We understand you’re tired, because we have seen some efforts but it’s not enough. It’s not enough to sustain us and it’s not enough to build a real economy around the creative sector in Kwara State.

We are tired of workshops that look more like campaign rallies. We need real, industry-standard training that prepares creatives for the real world.

Sugar Factory Film Studio (@officialsugarfactoryfilmstudio) was created as a space for creatives but today that space is not functioning the way it should. And that is a reality we cannot continue to ignore.

Kwara has talented filmmakers, photographers, musicians, designers, content creators and young people building their lives around creativity.

What we need is not just a building, we need a functional creative ecosystem with access to opportunities, training, equipment, funding and people who genuinely understand the industry.

We appreciate what the government has done but we believe Kwara creatives deserve more.

We are not asking for favour, we are asking for an environment where creatives can actually grow and stay.

Let’s make Sugar Factory work, let's Ilorin Visual Arts Centre, let’s build the creative sector, let’s give Kwara creatives a reason to stay just the way we are creating opportunities for the tech ecosystem.

God bless Kwara State.
God bless our Governor.
And God bless the good people of Kwara State. by @justicevisual

Maybe it’s time for Kwara State Government to rethink the media units in all ministries.

Are we really getting value from them or are we just creating positions?

If a ministry cannot communicate its work to the people, then that media unit needs to answer some serious questions.

One thing I’ve personally noticed about Engr. Abdulquwiy Olododo (@abdulquawiy_official) is that he has always been more interested in building capacity than making noise.

And that’s exactly why I find his journey worth paying attention to.

For me, it has never just been about the position. It’s about what you have done with the opportunities you’ve already had.

And anytime I hear “Egbe kini yi wa?”... I always say “Quwiy L’okan.”

Dear Creatives, stop allowing politicians to turn your creativity into political loyalty points.

Being a supporter of a politician does not mean you should become their free photographer, filmmaker, designer or content creator.

Support whoever you believe in but learn to separate loyalty from your profession.

Happy Birthday, Amb. @abdulfataigambari 🎂❤️

I have come to understand that leadership’s real impact is seen in the people whose lives you have touched and sometimes, the people you have helped tell the story better than you ever could.

Dasuki Tope should be a symbol of loyalty❤️... So loyal that if your likeness for Amba is 10% and you sit with her for just 5 minutes, I can almost guarantee that your love for him will increase to 90%😂

That kind of loyalty cannot be forced, it comes from genuine gratitude, love and the impact of someone’s leadership.

Today, I celebrate not just another year of your life sir, but the journey, the people you have impacted and the leadership you continue to demonstrate.

The builder who invests in people.
The unifier who brings people together.
The prepared operator who understands that greater responsibility requires greater capacity.

May Allah continue to increase you in wisdom, strengthen you for the journey ahead and give you many more years to build, unite and impact lives.

Happy Birthday Amba 🎂❤️ by @justicevisual

Sometimes, the problem is not your camera.

You can buy the latest Sony, the most expensive lens and all the equipment you want… and your videos can still look bad.

Because better equipment doesn’t automatically make you a better filmmaker.

Learn your camera. Understand light. Work on your composition. Improve your sound. Learn movement. And most importantly, learn how to tell a story.

Before you upgrade your camera, upgrade your skill. by @justicevisual
