Eight years living in NYC this Friday and the city still has my whole heart. What’s kept me here is the people. The hospitality community in this city is one of a kind and I’m lucky to call so many of them friends. Grateful for all the incredible souls I get to collaborate with every single day. Grateful for the nights I can barely remember with the people I’ll never forget. On this glorious #NationalCocktailDay I’m reminded just how lucky I truly am 🗽🍸 taken in New York, New York by @justin_sisson

Over the years, I’ve focused mainly on beverage work. But as I’ve ventured deeper into hospitality, documenting behind-the-scenes moments has opened my lens in unexpected ways.

I’ve had the privilege of meeting the often unseen people who make hospitality possible, the ones guests will never meet but without whom the experience would collapse. Time in the kitchen taught me that every plate is the work of many unseen hands.

True hospitality requires harmony from front of house to back of house and everything in between. It is demanding work, and I am grateful for my peek into this world and for all the passionate souls involved.

There’s something special about summer in New York. Although I love my quick jaunts to Paris and sneaking away to Beacon for the weekend, nothing beats the city during this time of the year (Don’t debate me, debate your therapist!). This past winter felt like the first REAL winter I’ve experienced in New York since jumping off the plane at LaGuardia almost 8 years ago. This summer marks 5 years since Covid and for the first time for many, Covid actually feels like the past. This summer has been full of martinis, laughs, and incredible meals. Nights that I can barely remember with people that I will never forget. New York summer energy is truly unmatched. Sure, we are experiencing one of the hottest summers on record (ConEd, delete my number because I’m not turning my AC off until October), but what this city does and always will do is take unusual circumstances, push you together with other people experiencing the same thing, and make shit work. Is it perfect? Never. Is it worth it? Always. You don’t move to New York to be comfortable, you move here to be great. New York summers have my heart forever.

I’ve spent the last few days organizing all the photos I’ve taken in 2024, and it has been a trip down memory lane. In a city as fast-paced as New York, the days often whiz by. Photography is one of the most incredible tools because it gives us the opportunity to freeze time.

As I sit and review all the photos I’ve taken this year, I’m reminded of the beauty of pausing. These moments allow me to sit with my memories in a unique way, reflecting on the incredible opportunities I’ve had this year.

This year has been centered around growth, a word that carries such beauty yet often reflects an experience that is anything but easy. Growth is grueling. Still, I feel deeply grateful.

This year, I truly believe, will define the artist and human being I’ll become in the future. It feels like a new beginning—a chapter where the lessons of the past come together to pave the way forward.

There were so many incredible projects I had the privilege of working on in 2024. These projects brought not just creative fulfillment but also new friendships. When I first moved to New York seven years ago, I used to walk through Prospect Park and see people enjoying wine together, wishing I had that kind of community to share the city with. Today, I can proudly say that I do. This year, my camera has not only taken me to places I never imagined but also introduced me to a network of friends and collaborators who feel like family.

There’s so much to say about the year 2024, but I’ll keep it simple: I feel very fortunate.

Here’s to the memories captured, the moments cherished, and the growth that continues.

In the spirit of community, here are a few images of @leonsnyc . A heartfelt thank you to @fatnatdrinkswine_eatspizza and @nickanderer for trusting me to capture the essence of your latest project. You both inspire me deeply, and I’m grateful to now call you my friends. Wishing you both nothing but the best in 2025! taken in New York, New York by @justin_sisson
