I haven’t done a Justin rant in a minute so… here we go. At the age of 30 I feel proud. I feel like my 20’s were a tornado of so much good but so many challenges. As this decade of my life comes to a close I can happily say I’m in a stretch of life where things just work. I’m happily married to the love of my life. I feel fulfilled by the friendships I’ve built both old and new. I feel challenged and validated in my work. And lastly, I genuinely like who I am. That last one was the hardest accomplishment of the last 16 years of my life. Through depression, anxiety, and grief it was difficult to say that I was happy with myself. It wasn’t always bad but never truly understood until this year.

I now feel like the person young Justin wanted himself to be.

There is still so much to do.
So much to accomplish.

The stages of catching a fish, in case you’ve never witnessed greatness in action:

– Step one: Sit on a boat pretending you know what you’re doing.
– Step two: Feel a tug and immediately become a professional angler.
– Step three: Pull it up like you just solved world hunger.
– Step four: Hold the fish like it’s a rare artifact, then kiss it because that’s apparently what people do now.
