Today I went by Las Vegas Institute Of Welding to follow up on a goal of mine.

I get a lot people that ask me “how to join the Ironworkers?” And my sincere apologies for not getting back to everyone. I’m really not trying to recruit people, but rather inspire, motivate, encourage and teach the Ironworkers we already have. With that being said, I come from a troubled youth that was in and out of the legal system from 11 years old to 26. Got out from 5 1/2 year prison term and I became an Ironworker apprentice on parole.

At 26 years old I’m not ashamed to say I didn’t know how the free world worked. (I still don’t) I didn’t know much besides the system. I had went through group homes, juvenile halls, California youth authority, my whole life until Ironwork. Never even had a serious relationship.

What I did know, was that I was physically capable of the work and the guys I was working with weren’t too different from myself in attitude.
The years I spent behind bars, parole, tattoos, lack of education, didn’t hold me back in ironwork.

So I’ve always wanted to tell my peers that are behind bars about the life they could work towards, I’m evidence, not the only one, but I have a sincere desire to share the trade in a language that they can understand, because I was there too, and know the worries and obstacles a felon faces.

This is along the lines of what Las Vegas Institute of Welding does. And I would love to be apart of it at any level. I made this post to share it with you all to hear your thoughts and if anyone thinks it would be a good partnership?
Not everyone will be an Ironworker, but welding has many different avenues for a career path. I’d definitely consider it felon friendly.

For the last 3 weeks I’ve collaborated with @defidetattoo on a campaign to give free tattoo sessions to my Ironworker friends. From design to completion. The Goal here (with LEVEL UP and HIDDEN GRAIL) is to give IRONWORKERS a Tattoo Shop that acknowledges US and the WORK we do. Soon I will open the door to printing out jobsite photos you can send in and if it’s 🔥 it can be added to the wall for display in the shop with other cool ironworking photos. Level Up! God is Good! Yell “slam” if you loose your grip or control of the beam. This is one reason why I usually stab my spud and bury it with my shoulder on the piece.
