✨ We’re delighted to see Glinting resonating with our audiences! Thank you to Carl Burgess at ScreenCritix for a 4-star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Can’t wait to share at festivals later this year. More updates coming soon!

“Glinting tells a moving story about love, memory and mourning with intelligence and sensitivity. It is a well-crafted Irish short featuring strong performances, attractive cinematography and an emotional core that will resonate with many viewers who have experienced the loss of someone close. Quiet, thoughtful and sincere, it is a touching meditation on grief that proves sometimes the smallest stories leave the strongest impression.”

“Visually, Glinting is a beautifully crafted short. Jamie Doyle’s cinematography makes excellent use of natural light, allowing the floating dust particles to become almost magical. It is an elegant visual metaphor for memory itself; often invisible until the light catches it. The imagery is simple, but remarkably effective.”

“Eddie Jackson wisely keeps the story grounded in Jack’s emotional experience... El Brady’s editing also keeps the pacing measured, allowing scenes to breathe without overstaying their welcome... The sound design remains clean throughout, while Karima Dillon El Toukhy’s score is understated and often ethereal, gently supporting the emotional beats without becoming intrusive”

In 2012 I was diagnosed with Wolff Parkinsons White syndrome, an irregularity with the electrical pathways in your heart. These 'extra' pathways would cause spontaneous occurrences of super ventricular tachycardia (SVT) or fast heart rate of over 160 bpm. During an episode of SVT you would become dizzy, be short of breath and have a horrible feeling in your chest along with anxiety that you were about to die. This could happen at any time.

These episodes used to happen once or twice per year when I was a kid but increased in regularity as the years went on.

By 2012 I was having these episodes multiple times a week and life became unbearable. These episodes could last for hours. I accepted the possibility that I may die each time this happened. They affected my likelihood of attending any sort social gathering, at the risk that I would have an SVT attatck. All of which was never understood at the time.

In 2012, I attended Beaumont hospital for an ECG (echocardiogram), which showed an irregularity in the rhythm of my heart. A consultation was booked with consultant cardiologist Dr. Sheehan for three months later. A surgery was then scheduled for 20th June 2013 with the Dr. Sheehan.

There were minimal risks to the procedure. I might have to be fitted with a pacemaker at the age of 23 if my original pathways were damaged, but this was only a less than 5% chance.

Luckily the operation was a success (thanks to Dr. Sheehan & his team). It felt like I was literally handed a new heart and a new life to go with it.

When I was leaving the hospital I seen a fundraiser leaflet for 'The Beaumont Hospital Foundation' where you could run to raise funds. I took the leaflet home with the intent that one day I would give back something with my 'new heart'.

I've been slowly building up my running on and off since 2022, attending parkruns and lots of solo runs. It's been great for the mind and body, I couldn't recommend it enough. So finally 13 years later I feel like I have the fitness and assurance that my heart is actually ok, and I'm ready.

Thanks everyone who has donated and thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. Donations link in bio. by @justjamiedoyle

A surreal career highlight for me last year getting to 2nd AC with one of my all time favorite DP's Robbie Ryan on such a special project for @lankumdublin 'Ghost Town'. What a banger. The video directed by @leonnward lends such a hand to bringing everything to life from the start right to the end.

Thanks so much to JP Quill & @wejaywalk @liam.hark & @paulinekausch for having me on board.

Thank you to @james_farrell94 & @marikinga for all the help on the day.

Shout out to @padraig_conaty & Conor Flemming who were on lighting on the day & Gary Greenberg & @shotmaker_grips on grip. And @theo_jebb on drone.

Go check out the video!

Great to be a part of @lovelaneunited & watch @jackthornton993 execute his vision for this piece. It's been a pleasure to witness it grow from a short film we worked on a few years ago to a finished feature length film. Massive congrats to you Jack & @cahalmcquillan for pulling it off 👏🏻

I was delighted to come on board as Gaffer & to help with camera assisting, also ending up shooting a block of the film.

Looking forward now, I'm really excited to see the film on the big screen, especially after @raygunpost 's amazing finishing touches on post production.

You can come see our film at the Palás theatre as part of @galwayfilm at 3pm on the 9th of July.

Please come down if you're around and see our film. See ya there! ⚽
