#tbt To catch you up: last year ended on all the high notes. I’m sure someone who is better at social media than I am would have told me that taking a hiatus just when all the Best-Of lists come out was probably not a good move, like, promotion-wise? But it felt good to celebrate these accomplishments quietly. It felt good to live quietly. It felt so good, in fact, that I’m trying to strike a more sustainable balance moving forward. So I’m going to start posting again, because there are *amazing* books I want you to know about, but I’m still not checking messages/notifications. I am deep in a work cave, chiseling away at a few different projects I’m so excited to eventually share with this community. More soon… 💗
(And yes, one of those projects is recording HAPPY PLACE, a book which is infuriatingly revelatory. I’m actually a bit concerned you’re going to hear in my voice how it changed me on a cellular level so THANKS FOR THAT @emilyhenrywrites ) by @justjuliawhelan

My favorite writing duo has done it again! I love this story more than words can say! I also love it when authors decide to play with new elements when they’re writing, and I love when you can tell that an author (or in this case, authors) really love the story they wrote. And you can see the love in this beautiful story.

First, you should know that this isn’t your typical romcom…it does have a deeply beautiful romance, but this story also tackles elements of science and medicine, grief and loss, and ultimately, what it means to begin again.

Also, it just so happens that things coming back to life after they seem dead and gone happens to be something I’m deeply passionate about…

And no, I’m not talking about being passionate about bringing the dead back to life (even though Frankenstein IS my favorite book and the concepts brought up in this book are incredibly cool)…I’m talking about beginning again in a relationship when all feels lost.

This is something that my husband and I have experienced again and again over the course of our marriage—to varying degrees of severity. One time, after a particularly rough bout of seizures in my early 20’s, I actually completely forgot that we were married. Thankfully, the memories came back, but it was a painful month for my husband, and it wouldn’t be the last—for either of us.

But what I love about this story, and my own story, is that it IS possible to fall in love with the same person over and over again, to keep choosing each other even when all feels lost. And Ioved watching Emery and Luca find each other again.💛
