Get shit done.

One of the biggest lessons I’m learning as we dive into the world of sync licensing has nothing to do with metadata, one-stops, or pitching songs.

It’s that perfectionism can quietly kill momentum.

I’m guilty of spending way too much time chasing “one more mix revision,” “one more rewrite,” or waiting until everything feels perfect before moving on.

But the more conversations I have with people in this industry, the more I realize that finished music creates opportunities.

Unfinished music doesn’t.

That doesn’t mean lowering the bar. It means doing the best work you can with the knowledge and skills you have today, putting it out into the world, learning from the process, and making the next song even better.

I’m still very much a student of this industry, which is why I enjoyed sitting down with DJ and music supervisor Burt Blackarach for Episode 186 of the #liveandcreate Podcast.

We talked about life, creativity, music, and what it really takes to build a career in sync.
