I remember my first year of attending City College of San Francisco. One of the most known JUCOS in all of California. Current coach probably lost 60 games in a 15 year plus coaching position.

This year I probably played about ten minutes or less per game. Some games I wouldn’t even play. I didn’t ask any questions at all just kept moving along. The team I was on tho probably top two most fun teams i ever been on. Finished the season 29-2. I was the one getting yelled at probably the most. 😂😂

At the end of the year they gave me two choices help me “find” me a school that fits right away or come back get better and EARN
some Four year School options. I chose to stay.

The beginning of my second year was still tough. Didn’t know what to do. But later that year I started coming off the bench. That changed everything for me. We won league and I got MVP. Off the bench.

Through basketball you get to see and experience different cultures, traditions, and history of many. History that have been built over hundreds of years.

As a black American none of this actually got me thinking about my own people and traditions until certain questions been frequently asked for the past three years. One of them being “where are you from ?” Which didn’t mean which state.

Often I would have to explain to the ones asking this question that slavery dismantled any form of history that we had or known. But that didn’t discourage the next question, “so you don’t know where you are from?”.

I actually felt that, so I took it upon myself to get a DNA test my second year in Europe. It may not be accurate or possibly could be as accurate as ever. But that didn’t deter the next question “do you have an aunt or so in that country still?”.

But it’s okay because it helped me realize a lot about being a black American. Helped me see that we went into slavery having history and traditions as Africans but we came out with a whole new perspective on who we are as black Americans. We built traditions and culture for the last 100 years.

We gave ourselves outlets to express ourselves in so many ways that even got the world to enjoy. We provided RockNRoll, Jazz, Blues, R&B, HIPHOP(whether you think it’s vulgar or not), COOKOUTS, SoulFood(a lot of places added soul to their titles now), OffWhite, Tupac, Michael Jackson, Sojourner Truth, MLK, Black Panthers, Urban Streetwear, and many more. We officially get to celebrate ourselves with Juneteenth. All of this stem from slavery and no this isn’t an attack on anyone but this is me realizing that we do have traditions that is still being built. We aren’t lost we just in rebuilding like your favorite sports team 😂 #justtwosdays #twosday🔥 #twosday #heartoverheight by @justtwosday

As some of you know , I planned to do a mini documentary on my journey from high school to now. It was going to be a way of keeping myself busy other than actually playing, practicing, and being away from family.

But it didn’t happen 😂 so I have all these recordings of family talking to me or others. So I decided to start using them for this page since it is supposed to be motivational.
