My piece 'I will fear no evil, for you are with me' from our 2025 exhibition 'Ako ay may kaibigan, kasama ko kahit saan (I have a friend; where I go they go) alongside @gacelline and @sanroqueparishchurch at @incinerator_gallery back in December!

I will fear no evil, for you are with me engages with the Filipino concept of the Agimat as an active inheritance; a conduit through which cultural memory, protection, and identity persist despite dislocation. Born to a Filipino mother and an English–Australian father, Allen positions this work as a site to interrogate the vantage point of the diasporic subject: encountering “Filipino-ness” not as a static category but as an ongoing negotiation between distance and belonging. Through assembled found objects, metalsmithing, and an attention to the material languages, Allen constructs a contemporary talisman that channels ideas of care, superstition, pre- and post-colonial identity, and gestures embedded within familial cultural transmissions.

'Cup Runneth Over' 2025

Found cups, $12 goon (boxed wine), Hills Clothing line, found table

‘Yard’ investigates the disintegrating concept of the Australian Dream. Steeped in nostalgia, this exhibition confronts the political and whimsical fascinations of the Australian Backyard. The Australian Backyard acts as a site and as a state of memory and aspiration, in Australian media the modest backyard is a vital staple to the household. Amidst a crumbling middle class and housing crisis, the Australian Backyard becomes the crossroads of the political, environmental, and cultural affect and is probed through themes of decay and surrealism.

'Cup Runneth Over' engages with the cultural, communal, and aspirational. Taking from the 'Goon of Fortune' the goon bag hangs heavily over a precarious stack of cups alluding to a decaying champagne fountain, at a house party any cup goes regardless of size, design, and intended use.
