Iris & Ghost nebula

On the right bottom you can see the Iris Nebula with all its feint dust clouds surrounding it. It’s a bright reflection nebula in the constellation of Cepheus.

On the left top you can see the Ghost Nebula (Sh2-136), also a reflection nebula located in the constellation Cepheus. This is one of my favorite nebulae, so I wanted to add it in the FoV of the Iris nebula!

I tried to photograph the Iris Nebula with all its feint dust clouds before, but I couldn’t bring them out. I tried it again this year, using a new filter: The Optolong L’pro. I hoped his would help with my Bortle 7 light pollution, and it did!

This is the result of 27h of data, captured over 7 nights from my backyard in the Netherlands.

I haven't seen the milkyway a lot of times with my own eyes. The milkyway in La Palma was insane 😮 So cool to see!

FINALLY clear nights after months of clouds.

I wanted to photograph Thor's Helmet for quite some time. It's only high enough above the horizon for about 2 months so I was afraid I couldn't make a picture of it this year. Luckily it was clear for 4 nights and it was also a new moon!

I had to cut my hedge and place my whole setup on top of a table in order to see the target through my telescope. 😵‍💫

This is about 8 hours of data from a bortle 6-7 zone.

Thor's Helmet is an emission nebula in the constellation Canis Major. The nebula is approximately 11.96 thousand light years away and 30 light-years in size. The central star is the Wolf-Rayet star WR7, an extremely hot star thought to be in a brief pre-supernova stage of evolution.

The Bubble Nebula and the Lobster Claw Nebula in Cassiopeia

The Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) is a shell of gas blown outward by the stellar wind of a single massive young star, about 40 times the mass of our Sun. The bubble is roughly 7 light years across and sits about 7,000 to 8,000 light years from Earth. The star isn’t in the center of the bubble, which is why one side looks brighter and denser than the other.

Just next to it is the Lobster Claw Nebula (Sh2 157), a large emission nebula of glowing hydrogen whose curved shape looks like a claw reaching across the frame. Both are part of the same busy star-forming region in the Milky Way.

We had 3 clear(ish) nights in a row in the Netherlands! Also the nights start to become longer so I could gather quiet some data during these nights. I decided to go for the eastern veil nebula. I love the veil nebula and this part of it fits my FOV exactly 😎✌️

Collected 18 hours of data over 3 nights. It's the first time I captured the feinter outer Ha glow, so I'm happy that worked, but I think I can still get more detail out of that part. That's for next time 😅

This is Andromeda trough a dual and filter! I wanted to try to combine my OSC data from 2 years ago with Ha of Andromeda. I'm still figuring out continuum subtraction.. 😅 So this is a preview of the Ha data already. I think it looks so cool! 😱

It’s been 3 years since I photographed this target so I thought it was time to give it another go. Back then it was 3 hours of data. This time I gathered a bit more than 17 hours and the difference is insane. Ofcourse my editing skills became better as well, but it shows how important more data is. Sticking to 1 target for multiple nights gives such better results 😊! Although its sometimes hard to stick with one target haha.

This is the Ghost of Cassiopeia nebula (IC63). I've photographed it before and really like this nebula. It reminds me of a dementor from Harry Potter hehe.

I spent 5 nights photographing it and gathered about 20 hours of useful data. It's still summer in the Netherlands so the nights are relatively short. So happy I got 5 clear nights in a row to photograph this target! :D

I did a lot of edits and played with blending the Ha and OIII data, and in the end I couldn't choose, so I decided to upload both. Which one do you think is best?

Today we could see a 90% solar eclipse from my hometown! 😁

I wanted to photograph it and thought that was cool, but the whole happening around it was so special!

It got quite dark, the colors were really weird, it got noticeably colder. Quite some people came out to see it and eventhough we were at a pretty remote place, more people found this spot as it had a great view. 👌

Some drinks, snacks a comfy chair and enjoying 😎

Pretty happy with how this photo turned out. I had this in mind but didnt think about the different colors. But I quite like the gradient 😁

New home with bortle 4 instead of bortle 7

Time to photograph again 😁🔭

This is the Lion Nebula (LBN 473), a feint emission nebula in Ceoheus located roughly 10000 light-years away. I'm curious what that beam of light is, I couldn't find anything. (see second picture.) if someone knows please let me know 😬

It's a total of 11,5 hours of data. Combined with data from last year. I had to get used to Pixinsight again haha but I think it came out great :)!

Rainy season in Indonesia.. You're on your scooter and all of a sudden hell breaks loose. You seek shelter for 15 mins but you don't know how long it will take so you decide to continue driving in the rain, because you got soaked during those 3 minutes it took to find shelter anyways.

Arrived at the hotel and quickly set up my camera to photograph the lightning. Never did this before so it took some time to properly photograph it. Luckily you get a lot of chances during one of these storms haha 😬👌 taken in Borobudur, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia by @juul.silv

Photo of our closest star!

This is the sun in Ha ☀️

This was the first time for me taking a serious photo of the sun. Together with @ed_kuijper we made this picure of the sun. We figured out the Lunt telescope @sterrenwachthalley and used my ZWOASI224MC.

It was very hot, did a lot of trial and error, but very happy with the outcome 😁👌
