"What if I told you the world has always loved Black pain, just not the people carrying it?" 🗣️

New #WhatThatMean with @JuztKP unpacks @LittleSimz's "X," a track that names the wars over resources, the petrochemical facilities poisoning the Global South, and the climate migration already underway.

"Organized people beat organized money. Every time." - @Revyearwood

What song had you saying #WhatThatMean?

Did you hear that?

"When the billionaires outnumber the astronauts."

What if a song about climate change was never just about climate? That's exactly what @substantialmusic and @thisweekintheuniverse does.

Hip hop been telling the truth. You just gotta listen. 🔥

Hip hop and environmental justice have been speaking the same language for years now. This World Water Day, we're making the connection loud and clear.

Introducing #WhatThatMean, our new series where we break down the bars that predicted the world we're living in and what we can do about it.

First up: Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) told us everything we needed to know about the water crisis in 1999. "New World Water" off Black on Both Sides wasn't just a song, it was a warning. Privatized water. Polluted communities. Petrochemical profits over people.

26 years later? Flint. Jackson. West Virginia. LA. He was talking about ALL of it.

🎬 Watch the full breakdown now.

“Next year lets call this day our anniversary
The day I put
My heart in your hand
And said that it was yours to keep
From this moment on say that you’ll always be mine
‘Cuz, girl, when I’m alone with you
There’s only one thing that’s on my mind……..”

February 27th, our lives changed forever. To my best friend & lover @_faceitt Thank you for accepting & loving every piece of me. Excited for this adventure together.

only goal for this marathon was to crack 2 hours.. Missed it by exactly 3 minutes.… but improving my time by 11 minutes from last year, 👏🏾👏🏾.

Everything about this journey since starting has been mental. Proof to self anything is possible if you simply just “believe…” this song played while on it and it was like I got fresh legs from above 🙏🏾

Day 692 running every day. Looking forward to my sub-2-hour next go round 🔥
