🤠 Everything is bigger in Texas!
The crew was smaller this year, but the totals were just as big!

🏋🏻‍♀️ @yl_weightlifting kicked us off Friday night. Her return to the National stage did NOT disappoint!! 6/6, an 8kg Comp PR Total, qualified for Sr Nationals at a new body weight category, broke her own club records, and EARNED ALL the swag - Cowboy Hat, Bolo Tie, a wristband, AND her first ever Open Division medals 😎
Snatch - 80kg
Clean & Jerk - 107kg 🥉
Total - 187kg 🥉

🏋🏻‍♀️ @elijahhpakk stepped up on Saturday. He’s been lifting less than 1 year, but he’s already making his mark! After a viscous callous tear on his second snatch, he had no choice but to grit his teeth, cowboy up, and fight through the pain. He responded with a 5/6 day, PR’s across the board, breaking his own club records, and stepping up HUGE when it mattered to grab a pair of medals himself!! One of the gutsiest performances I’ve ever seen 🤯
Snatch - 120kg
Clean & Jerk - 152kg 🥉
Total - 272kg 🥉

As always, it was also a pleasure to get to coach @sidless @longbeachweightlifting and to help @angiek82 @vehement.elite.athletics.vc with @noosa118 !! They both had incredible performances and I was honored to get to work with them again!

🎶 Summertime in the LBC 🎶
Always one of my favorite meets of the year hosted by @longbeachweightlifting !! This year we got to bring 4 athletes along joining us from 4 different states 😳! It was an absolutely incredible meet and always a pleasure getting to hang out with our extended team/family from Long Beach, @vehement.elite.athletics @vehement.elite.athletics.vc @alphaunoathletics

@wendelvalerie crushed it in her first meet going 6/6, establishing PR’s, taking 🥇 in her weightclass & 🥈 in the developmental overall and qualifying for Series!

@its__bassmanj joined us to cap off the summer before heading back to Illinois for school @illini_barbell 4/6 and a 🥇 in his weight class for a train-through meet! Can’t wait to see what he puts up next month!

@_alex_hibbs makes her return to the platform after knee surgery last summer! She came out strong requalifying for finals and looking ready to join @cune_lifting_sports for the fall semester 💪

And of course, @coach.nataliejean jumps into her favorite meet of the year and comes through, going 6/6 and improving her total from Masters Nationals!

And of course we had @innout and ice cream by the beach 😎

👨‍🎓 I remember that first summer after high school. Late July hits and everyone starts heading back in for double sessions and getting ready for school to start back up. That’s when it really hit me. High school was over. My athletic career was over. What was I going y o do now? What was I if not an athlete?

📖 I stayed active. Studied Exercise/Sport Science, eventually TAUGHT the subject at ASU. Sports were a major part of my life, and I spent years searching for a way to stay involved.

🏋🏻‍♀️ 12 years later, I discovered weightlifting and my life was changed. A friend had asked me to do a competition with her. I stepped on the platform and knew I had found my place!

💪 11 years later we are still going strong! This sport has taken me across the country, around the world, and given me friends and colleagues in countries I never would have dreamed of.

👩‍🎓👨‍🎓 Only ~8% of high school athletes go on to play sports in college. But for many of us, we still felt like we had more give. Like our journey wasn’t over.

In college I still trained like an athlete. I went to the gym consistently. I played all the intramural sports. But somehow, something was missing. The team. The camaraderie. Everyone working together to make each other better.

🏋🏻‍♀️ 12 years after I graduated high school, a friend invited me to do a Weightlifting meet and my life was never the same. I finally found my path to return to sport. I was finally an athlete again.

🏋🏻‍♀️ What started as a project trying to put together some highlights for Sun Devil Weightlifting turned into a walk down memory lane. (And a 3-part series 🥲)

Universities has always been one of my favorite meets of the year. The excitement, teams cheering/chanting for one another. It brings a different level of excitement!

USA Weightlifting offers several opportunities for University-aged athletes to compete. JR National, U-25 Nationals, and of course University Nationals. Not to mention local and series events throughout the

🏋🏻‍♀️ Exactly ✌️ weeks after her performance at Youth Nationals, @mayalitt12 is back on the platform! This time stepping into her first International Competition, where she will be representing the US in Tel Aviv, Israel at the 2026 Maccabi Games!!

Maya competes in Heat 4 on Monday, July 6th at 3pm Israel time.
That will be Monday, July 6th at 5am AZ time for those who want to tune in and watch!!

Congrats to all the amazing athletes who competed at Nationals this last week.

@katiewitte01 was the 5th best out of the Women at Sr Nationals.

This is amazing for a meet she didn’t peak for, only went heavy-ish for twice (up to openers) to prep for, and still recovering from her elbow injury.

While she’s not at 100% and probably 85-90% healthy it means she’s trending in the right direction. And hitting 99% of her PR total was more than we could’ve hoped.

Leading up to this meet, and even the day of, we were still talking “play it by ear” and just hit what you can even if it’s just powers. taken in Ed Robson Arena by @sanctuarybarbell
