Bombs don’t stop- calls don’t stop! We are making a difference- they can’t ignore us forever. Call every day and demand #ceasefirenow ! by @jvpalbany
COLLECTIVE ACTION GETS THE GOODS! Thanks to pressure from constituents across New York State, DiNapoli let $45 million in Israel Bonds expire this past fiscal year!!! This win comes on the heels of NYC’s Israel Bond divestment victory, and the divestment victories hard-won by organizers in Michigan, Minnesota, and North Carolina! The $45 million in lapsed Israel Bonds in the NYS pension fund represent more than the previous Israel Bond holdings of Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, and NYC combined. But we still have a long way to go to divest New York State’s pension from Israeli genocide and apartheid. Help us give DiNapoli a real scare this Halloween by calling his office and demanding the immediate sale of the $35 million in Israeli sovereign bonds in the state pension fund and a commitment to stop buying new Israel Bonds! CALL NOW to show DiNapoli that New Yorkers oppose his morally reprehensible and fiscally reckless expenditure of our tax dollars and retirement funds. Swipe for a call script. by @jvpalbany
JVP Albany’s statement of solidarity with students at South Colonie High and Albany High rejecting racist, dehumanizing language used by white students. From Albany County to Palestine, we must continue the work of dismantling systems of racism and white supremacy. by @jvpalbany
A big win by our downstate organizers and city workers! Beyond the immediate moral imperative to divest from Israeli bonds, NYC Comptroller Levine makes it clear: it is financial malpractice to tie our public sector workers’ pensions to a genocide. Get ready, things are brewing statewide, so it’s your move @tomdinapoli.ny: DUMP THE SOVEREIGN ISRAEL BONDS NOW! Stay tuned to @Break_the_Bonds_NYS for more to come soon! by @jvpalbany
Winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival, Naza is coming to the Spectrum 8 Theatres in Albany beginning 10/15. SPECIAL SCREENING WITH POST- FILM DISCUSSION Sunday, 10/18 2:50 pm Tickets & additional info at btmcinemas.com @jvpalbany, @albanymac & @prcalbany acknowledge the more than 270 Palestinian journalists who have been murdered by the IOF for courageously reporting on the Gaza genocide. They are among at least 74,000 Palestinians who have been killed since October 2023. It is because of their heroic work and sacrifices that the world has learned the extent of Israel’s brutality. NAZA is Israeli military slang for collateral damage: the number of civilians an officer is allowed to kill in a strike. In this documentary, 24 Israeli intelligence officers and soldiers, many from the army’s most prestigious units, explain how that number was set, approved and exceeded in Gaza. Their identities and voices are disguised. Filmed at night on Tel Aviv rooftops, in chapters with titles such as “Where’s Daddy?” and “Annihilation Zone”, they describe tracking targets to their family homes and watching families for days before strikes were approved. One officer followed two sisters to find their father; he was not home when the strike killed the family. As the filmmakers put it, the killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza was “not a ‘tragic byproduct’ of a war against Hamas” but “a premeditated, calculated, and intentional act.” Directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the Israeli co-directors of the Oscar-winning No Other Land. Produced by The Guardian and James Wilson (JW Films), executive produced by Jonathan Glazer. by @jvpalbany

3 years on, and still we march. WE ARE NOT FREE UNTIL WE ARE ALL FREE🫡🔻🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🦔 by @jvpalbany
10/08 🇵🇸 MARCH FOR PALESTINE📍Downtown Albany, NY ⏰ 4-6pm - Scroll to prepare for tomorrow’s march 👉👉 March with us for Palestinians as they continue to withstand the murderous apartheid state of Israel. We honor our martyrs, those women, men, and children whose lives were ended early by Israel, often in torturous, murderous, or criminal ways. We call for the end to the razing of the Earth by Israel through endless bombing, destroying and polluting the soil, water, and air. We call for Palestinians right to return home and live on their land peacefully. We send our love and strength across the waters to the people of Gaza and the West Bank, we acknowledge our privilege and our duty to speak against the colonial government of Israel and speak up for human dignity, safety, and justice. Three years of genocide, almost 80 years of occupation. This must end. Within our lifetimes. Free Palestine. Free us all. by @jvpalbany
Join us in solidarity with the Palestinian people as we honor their international call to action! Thursday October 8th 4pm - 6pm. Comrades and supporters will join in Palestinian sumud (resilience) as we mark three years since Israel's most recent genocidal campaign against the indigenous people of Palestine. Albany won't forget as we speak truth to power, chant, sing and march together in community. 4:00 96 Washington Ave • 4:45 110 State St • 5:15 1 Clinton Sq by @jvpalbany
On Friday we gathered for a High Holidays Shabbat potluck. We sat together during the “days of awe”: that time between Rosh Hashannah when we contemplate the abundance of the upcoming year and wish for sweetness and Yom Kippur, when we atone for our sins of the previous year and rededicate ourselves to our work and to each other. We contemplated a couple of popular sayings: 1) what’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over again and expecting different results 2) how do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Sometimes it feels like we are going insane. Insane with grief - as we approach the three year anniversary of the ongoing active genocide of Gaza… 78 years of active occupation… leaders who still refuse to listen to their constituents, oligarchs who seek to silence and replace us with machines… And yet history shows us that the only way we will win is through a commitment to the practice of solidarity and justice. To illustrate that commitment, our wonderful member Megan created this enormous Shofar which we decorated with messages of hope for the new year. May it’s call ring out everywhere and may 5787 usher in freedom for Palestine, and us all. 🍎 🍯 by @jvpalbany
