Five mechanically compromised vehicles piloted by derelicts with an unreasonable desire to win a competition nobody fully understands… @redclayrally was four days of long-winded tales that will only become more gregarious and more heroic as time passes. Needless to say, we had a gnarly time. Personally, obsessing over planning was mostly a waste of time. However, the work @cleancivilian did helping with mapping and timing, paired with the surgical precision of @cruiserlena and @shadetreedynamics, somehow had this traveling circus sitting on the podium after the first two days. But like any competition, it ain’t over till the fat lady sings. We fell (in a not-so-graceful way) to the current RCR champs, @abductedoffroad. They pulled off a smart plan and were on our heels the entire last day like any good competitor should be. They are back-to-back RCR champs for a reason! Suddenly, we were pinched in an empty creek bed full of boulders, unsure if our last truck was dead or just behind, and with no option but to keep moving. We all got a little spicy. One bolt. One bad radio. One truck left for dead. Many things went wrong before we even hit the hard stuff… There’s something strangely intimate about suffering in the woods with your friends. You find out pretty quickly who keeps their head, who loses theirs, who’ll turn around when somebody is missing, and who will drag you out of a hole when there’s absolutely nothing in it for them. Somewhere between the broken parts, bad decisions, exhaustion and disappointment, five trucks felt like a human centipede. Led by @millcreekoverland, we rarely needed a spot from @sean_sinn. Our “WIZARD WINCH BOY” @jwhitetrousdal popped his offroad cherry as he smoked his cherry wizard wand. We even had a real JEEP, it’s @country.fried.overland XJ! And @kenny.the.boomer previewed his perfect, tattooed body… but you only get a taste… We didn’t come home with the finish we wanted. We came home with a DQ, a broken truck, stories that will become outright lies, and a group of people I’d gladly make terrible decisions with again. Regardless of the DQ, it felt good. It felt really fucking good. by @jwhitetrousdal
Said YES to the man with the biggest….beard I’ve ever seen! I love you @jwhitetrousdal by @jwhitetrousdal
Another @jwhitetrousdal creation for @emily_elgin. It’s truly a custom Honda Shadow. Jared’s staple design note of an alcohol bottle reservoir, this one specifically sports a Cabal Blanco Tequila bottle. Horse shoes suspending the rear fender, exposed fuel hose acts as the gauge, and valve petcock. And finally the Logo for @emily_elgin under the seat. It’s just too much fun to look at, but it was built to ride. #HondaShadow by @jwhitetrousdal
@jwhitetrousdal newest creation… The photos of his bespoke BMW K100 don’t do the craftsmanship justice. A lot of fun features, from a completely custom swing arm, @aviationgin coolant reservoir, BMW underglow, BMW M series watch in the tree, to his custom German license plate wrench mount… The list goes on and on… all his builds have fun stories for the creative decisions he’s made. Recently featured at @handbuiltshow 2025. This isn’t a show bike, he rips it all the time… #BMWK100 #Kseries #BMWmotorcycle by @jwhitetrousdal
Still can’t believe I got invited to participate in the 2025 @handbuiltshow I feel honored as this was my first ever bike show! Cared for doesnt even come close to encapsulating all the feelings. Maybe in future years with other builds ill be back. An awesome show and unforgettable experience! Thanks again @revivalcycles for the invite. #bmwmotoradusa #bmwmotorcycles #bmwk100 by @jwhitetrousdal
Thanks to @revivalcycles for inviting me to the @handbuiltshow 2025 while attending the vintage festival at barber 2024. You allowed me to bring all of my ideas to fruition with this build. This 1987 BMW K100rs build pays homage to BMW’s history with their origins in aviation, HQ in munich, and their development of the M class. @bmwmotorradusa “The Journey” build takes you on a journey thru BMW’s history as well with its many easter eggs and has taken me on a journey of learning many new skills, and the motorcycle has endless possibilities for the journeys it can take you on! Continuing the Zercher journey! 405lb PR. Took a 2 year hiatus and came back to @sorinex_squatober this year doing all Zercher squat and crushed it. The 385lb Forest Pump video was done about 14 sessions in. I finished up today with a lifetime PR. Never broken 400lb on any squat variation before. #milestone @chadwicksfitness by @jwhitetrousdal
Yesterday was eventful, had an awesome day riding El Diablo with friends, won longest beard at a small competition then went to hang with @emily_elgin at a rodeo the rest of the day. Then on the way home a 🦌 jumped in front of me and we collided. Made for a very sad ending to the day. Luckily my awesome GF @emily_elgin was following me so she was able to make sure i was ok. God was watching out for me this night and thanks to my gear just suffered some bruising and sore muscles. Im still really sad about El Diablo. We had a good run! It may be salvageable. Just gonna have to see. #harleydavidson #lucky #thankfulgratefulblessed #caredfor by @jwhitetrousdal
