GO WATCH @aj.plaze AND @eck.sports VIDEOS ON THIS TOPIC AS WELL!!! Now, I know I haven’t exactly been silent about my disliking of the BLW-MLW situation. However, with both league’s drafts being in 3 days, I figured I would make a formal post on it for my followers who don’t know what’s going on, and give my views on this entire debacle. So basically, there is this called “Big League Wiffleball” (BLW). They’ve been around for a bit, but their popularity has really skyrocketed this past fall with their revamped “professional” fast pitch circuit. They managed to secure very high profile team owners such as Dude Perfect and Kevin Costner, and thus have received a lot of investments to help make their league popular. With its newfound popularity, BLW has made the decision to up the professionalism of their league for their summer season. The main things being securing an ESPN+ deal, and having formal player salaries for this season. The point of controversy, is that with these salaries, BLW has instituted an “exclusivity clause” in their players’ contracts. This clause states that BLW players cannot play in any events hosted by MLW. This means that there are many MLW players, perhaps upwards of a DOZEN players, that are being poached by BLW. Obviously, this has cause a lot of controversy within the Wiffle community. Now, in no way is this any fault of the players. Props to them for getting paid a substantial amount to play the game they love. The controversy comes with BLW instituting this clause, in a seemingly predatory move against MLW and these other leagues. This clause is solely because BLW does not want other leagues profiting off of their players, and not for rational purposes of injury prevention and safety, as leagues such as MAW and UWiffs are not affected by said clause. Many people, myself included, are upset at the way BLW is going about things. The fact that they’ve switched to the MLW style, are taking a lot of MLW’s best players, and are trying to undercut them is borderline disgusting to some people. I understand that this has to happen in order for the players to get paid, and business is business, but people can still frown upon this. by @jwilk.wiffs

Travelled over 1000 miles for my first MLW event, and it definitely didn’t disappoint, the atmosphere was absolutely E-LEC-TRIC. So happy to finally meet some of the players too, some of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Especially Grant, Aigner, and of course King Kurdi, genuine class acts. by @jwilk.wiffs
