“Sometimes you have to do hard things…”
The words of an eight year old when I was challenged to do something I was both unprepared for and uncomfortable doing. I listened to her sage guidance and had an unbelievable experience. Since then, “doing hard things” is our family mantra.
Thank you, Joie, for not only pushing us to be our best but being a living testament of what you inspire us to be!! by @jwsmith_12

Talk about giving one’s all… Dane put it all on the line for the 2026 Junior Olympics. He qualified for the 800m, 1,500m, & 4x800m. Dane finished 9th in the country in the 800m & 14th in the 1,500m. Determined to ‘leave Iowa with something’, Dane and his teammates won bronze in the 4x800m.
This was a tough season but Dane is already in the lab working to get stronger and improve his endurance.
Special thanks to @heartofhoustontf, @willandgracemedia, and @allinspiredfit.

We couldn’t be any prouder of Asher and his performance at the AAU Track and Field Junior Olympics. Two events (800m and 1,500m) and a two time All American!!! Asher really showed out on the 1,500m race. Seated 11th and ran a 15 second PR!!!!

Special thanks, as always, to @heartofhoustontf, @willandgracemedia, and @allinspiredfit

Shout outs to Dane and Jo, Asher’s siblings, for the encouragement, and @mangum.harrison @runleonelrun for being the best running mates.

Last year, Joie was one spot away from making it to the Junior Olympics. She was heartbroken and cried after her race…
This season, Jo was determined to contend in the Junior Olympics and put in the work and supplemental training to accomplish her goal. Now Jo is headed to the JOs to compete in the 1,500m race!
We are so so proud of her!

Big thanks to @heartofhoustontf and @willandgracemedia!!!

After Asher experienced his first 2nd place finish this year, he asked his dad to “Take him to the pain cave.”
Gerald took him to the cave and Asher pitched at cot… He came out ready to “take them [his competition] there!!” in the last race of the season, Regionals.
Next up is Junior Olympics where Asher has his eyes set on being a National Champion for the 800m and 1,500m.

*BIG SHOUT OUT TO @willandgracemedia @heartofhoustontf
