When I got this news I was at the @sprucetoninn residency, not far from where my story is set, doing a time audit because I couldn’t seem to get a handle on time. According to that log I spent a full hour freaking out about this.

A thousand thanks to Tommy Orange and @jennymquigley for choosing “Stick Season” to be in such incredible company, @sewaneereview for bringing it so thoughtfully to life, and @adamdalva for believing in it. You can read it online (link in bio) or when the anthology comes out this fall by @jxie03

@jxie03 is an author, a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree and, for a time, a professional cuddler–inspiring the Midas Touch clinic in her book, Holding Pattern.

Xie’s lyrical novel is an ode to mother-daughter relationships, the complexities of the immigrant experience, and a heartwarming exploration of intimacy. Listen to it now on Everand! by @jxie03

practice, practice, Practice.

Creating something of value takes practice. It takes reps. It requires starting somewhere and working your way through it. Trying and failing. Learning from someone better than you. Taking risks. It’s in this spirit that we chose the theme of craft—what it means to make with intention—as the third installment of our annual Config magazine.
