“He doesn’t even *hear* me. I’m just—not like him, and I don’t see things the way he does. But I... I don’t see how a world that makes—such wonderful things could be so bad.”

The Celebration of Day 1 of San Diego Comic-Con 2026 continues with this throwback to SDCC 2023 with @jynxeee as Ariel from “The Little Mermaid”!

Oh and hey- today is my birthday too 🥳

I loved getting to shoot this set with her as it was my first time shooting by the fountain in front of the hotel next door to the convention center. I’d seen it in other people’s photos for years and was thankful to for helping seize the opportunity to capture some magic there!

✨ Simon’s Spots 2— Shark Fin Cove ✨

For the second stop on Simon’s Spots, we’re visiting a place that was very exciting to him: Shark Fin Cove.

When Simon made his list, this was one of the places he wanted to see. He was always drawn to locations that felt a little magical — places that made you feel small in the best possible way. Somewhere quiet, beautiful, and completely unlike anywhere else. Shark Fin Cove felt like exactly that.

Tucked along the California coast just outside of Santa Cruz, this hidden cove gets its name from the massive rock formation rising out of the ocean like a shark’s fin. Over thousands of years, the waves carved away at the coastline, leaving behind this incredible landmark surrounded by cliffs, sea caves, and crashing surf.

The coastline feels almost unreal — like something from a fantasy world. The dramatic cliffs, endless ocean, and towering rock formations make it the perfect place for cinematic photos, adventure-inspired shoots, or simply taking a moment to breathe and appreciate where you are.

For photographers, this spot is especially beautiful in the late afternoon when the sunlight hits the cliffs and the ocean starts to glow. The beach and sea cave offer incredible opportunities for unique shots, but always check the tides and be careful around the water — the ocean here is powerful.

Plan to spend a couple of hours exploring the area. Take your time walking the bluffs, listening to the waves, and finding all the little views tucked around the cove. Parking is limited, so arriving early or visiting on a weekday is your best bet.

This spot is a reminder of something Simon always knew: there is so much beauty in this world, and it’s worth slowing down to notice it.

Thank you for putting this one on the list, Simon. I hope you’re somewhere with an endless coastline, a perfect sunset, and a front-row seat to all the places you wanted to see. 🤍

Onto the next spot.
