Hello!

For our show on @narr.radio, we have a live recording of my set closing the most recent Lick Quid Gold party :)

For this set I planned to come on during peak 3am madness and give the room a good old reset with a selection of odd, hazy and just-about-danceable tunes.

After nearly losing my nerve to try this a couple times in the preceding hours, complete with the customary thoughts of ‘is this all a bit self-indulgent? Should I just play rollers?’ - the warm support of my friends and the two ferocious Tabla stacks in the room replenished my confidence.

After about 20mins bathing in quasi-ambient soup, then came the rollers, then the skull-twisters, before finally finishing with the housey blissers for the LQG crew.

🌀Second guest announcement🌀

On close we have long time friend and close LQG affiliate @jzph1 .

With Joe, we’ve been exploring digs and sharing the dancefloor together long before our first event. He has an ear for tracks others may brush off or simply never find, and reveals their brilliance through his own deep and enigmatic club sound. Think oddballs, wrongspeeders, tracks withs unexpected turns. All the good stuff!

Joe also co-runs Bob & Weave, a party that has kept alternative club sounds alive in Leeds DIY nightlife. The Bobcast mix series on SoundCloud is worth checking out if you want a taste.

Some of you might get a little confused when we’re balling our eyes out watching joe spin some weird shit… but that’s cos he’s one of the best x

On May 8th, over from Berlin for her Leeds debut, is a DJ truly forging her own path - Olya Smok!

In our view, @olya_smok’s one of the most exciting DJs doing it. Someone who believes that beyond merely something functional - dance music has the potential to be inspiring, emotive, experimental and downright beautiful.

Equally at home rolling out deep trancers or quirky minimal oddities as she is playing abstract, broken club rhythms that could only loosely fit under any genre descriptor - Olya strikes that golden balance of understanding how to move a dancefloor, but also how to shock it.

Joe will be on hand for the first few hours of the evening to warm up the room with appropriately ambiguous tunes - his years as Smok fanboy will help no doubt…

Party announcement 🪭

On Friday 24th April land at Eiger Studios for the very first time 🛸

Coming in on the ‘outside lane’ for peak hours madness is Down To Earth resident and Pollination co-founder @__frond . With a perpetual supply of trippy trance selections and the ability to masterfully shift through the gears, Sophie can swamp with the best of them! The wormhole also spirals into production with multiple hypnotic releases on People & Places and Haws. These sonic excursions alongside her ethos with Pollination, FROND constantly inspires us and we can’t wait to have her back on Leeds soil to melt minds and jerk tears.

On warms we have Nottingham’s party host and dancefloor mischief maker @evilwoman_____ and a long-awaited close comes from dear friend and Bob & Weave co-founder Joe Webb @jzph1 .

Back with a new mix / podcast!

First one since my ‘Bobcast’ back in summer 2024.

Over the past year or so I have often felt frustrated with just how functional a lot of house and techno DJing feels. This is my attempt to put together a mix that’s still somewhat based around these genres and still made with a dancefloor in mind, but also takes left turns into stuff like IDM, dub, electro, wrongspeed dnb, tracks with more live instruments... while my Bobcast was fairly dark for the duration, this one is definitely more colourful and eclectic.

‧͙⁺˚*･༓☾ Bob & Weave 3rd Birthday Party! ☽༓･*˚⁺‧͙

With our club-home closed, left as nomadic voyagers through Leeds’ fast-coldening nights, things have been a little up in the air at B&W HQ - hence cutting it a little fine with the announcement of this gathering.

But we know there’s no better watering-hole for weary travellers than the fine boating establishment we frequent - @outlawsyachtclub - and no finer tunesmith for the occasion than the Piper from the across the Pennines himself, Bitzer Maloney of @bakk.heia.records infamy.

Joining him will be the well-loved Leeds bards, Jetsam and Frank Kendall, with us two balding court jesters on hand as always.

We bestow much gratitude unto the fair maiden @roseemeraldbee for conjuring up this masterful poster!

This Saturday!

Very excited to close celebrations for @outlawsyachtclub’s 13th Birthday this week at Hope House…

Outlaws and Hope House are two of the most important spaces we have left in Leeds, and we are planning a set that hopefully nods to the rich musical traditions of both. Arm in arm with lots of friends too!
