Let us fill you all in on the current situation...

We're seeking a new court to call home for the season. If you have ANY information on a last minute Basketball court we could use for 6 days of basketball, please contact @apleague_ ASAP‼️

@swagg2_ & @just.keen__ started a Men's Basketball League for the community. Paying homage to the sport and gathering in remembrance of a young hooper who recently passed away doing what he loved, hooping.💕

The courts paint job was refurbished by an outside organization, hired by the owners of the housing property the court sits on. Yes. But it was our decision to make the call to the housing authority, initiating this move. Jose made the call himself. We offered to have people come in and refurbish the court ourselves but they assured us they'd contract professionals themselves.

Which they did... and we were extremely grateful! Then immediately after week 1, they unauthorized us from convening to play basketball on a BASKETBALL COURT with players and attendees that currently live on the property. Not to mention, we cleaned up after every game...

Many can attest to the fact that, for YEARS the court was typically malnourished by the authority and empty due to this. I mean come on, we had to put up our own nets and draw our own lines just to play... and we did it with no complaints! Prior to us organizing the AP League I hardly seen anyone playing there. Ever. Until we nourished the environment, bringing life to a forgot court!

It's a shame we couldn't get any recognition for pioneering this movement in the community. Uplifting it as a whole. Then to unauthorize us from the property, that was neglected in the first place, is completely unwarranted. Crazy part is, the tenants enjoyed the movement. They watched, cheered, and rejoiced in the games with us. It's a shame everytime we try to organize as people, there's push back from the very people who should be encouraging these communions.

Still grateful we had the chance to make a genuine impact. Never thought it'd even get this far. Still hope the community/tenants are out there making memories to last a lifetime on this refurbished court! taken in Lancaster, Pennsylvania by @k.d.media_
