With Exposure, you not only discover you're not the best person in the room, you also discover you're not the worst person...

One thing people don’t talk about enough when it comes to exposure is how it quietly shatters the illusion that you’re the worst person trying to show up and improve. We often hear about how stepping into new spaces reveals people who are smarter, more skilled, or seemingly more accomplished. Those moments can humble you fast really, but what we don’t hear as often is how exposure also shows you the flip side: you’re not the worst in the room, and that realization can be just as powerful.

Focusing on that part for a second....

There’s something oddly comforting about seeing someone else show up, despite their obvious flaws, limitations, or struggles and it’s not about judging them, it’s about understanding that if they can push past their fears, insecurities, or lack of experience and still put themselves out there, then what’s stopping you? You start to realize that your own doubts and imperfections aren’t unique or disqualifying. In fact, they’re shared by almost everyone in that room.

And I honestly believe that realization can be a game-changer. It fuels a quiet confidence, a sense that maybe you’re not as behind or as incapable as you’ve convinced yourself. Suddenly, your fears lose some of their grip. The shyness that held you back begins to loosen, because if others can show up imperfectly and still make progress, so can you.

And that right there is a beautiful thing about exposure no one talks about. It doesn’t just challenge your ego by showing you who’s better; it also empowers you by showing you that you’re capable of standing alongside everyone else, flaws and all.
