Working with an intimacy coordinator elevated everything, from rehearsals to filming to even just communication on set. As someone who is moving forward directing her first feature (YAY!), this was just the thing I needed to gain confidence in my skills, learn new ones, and have fun on the way! I mean, to have someone else secure the location, cast talent, hire crew, schedule it all, curate a selection of scripts for me to pick from, all so I can focus on my responsibilities as a director? That’s almost unheard of in the indie world! It was such a relief to just come in and play. Yes, there are still plenty of challenges, but with less to worry about, you can really focus on just your role as a director. And I’m so pleased with the final edit - I’m sharing it with everyone! Writing Murder Mysteries may be my new favorite thing! 😍 We’ll see how directing an episode goes this Monday! 🤣😊 This time last week, I was on set as a writer, and it was AH-mazing: 1. SO ready for my next @ladirectorslab ! 2. Hosted by @casanohostudios - such a cool location! 3. I even made a CLUE board of the location to keep the story placement clear. *Made on @canva 4. But first we were a Writers Room. Three days of breaking story, choosing episodes, writing, giving/getting notes, and revising. 12 people, 12 episodes in 3 Days - Whew! 5. Day 1: We were pitched the show and took a tour of the location to explore options for where each episode could be placed. 6. Our intrepid leaders, Showrunner @emmyloudiaz and Executive Producer @latinadirector making all the magic work! 7. Even ran into a few LADL alum ! Great to work with you in the Writer’s Room, @heysofiekhan 8. And more alum joining as directors. Great to see you work, @mslauragarcia 9. And then it was written. Three pages in three days, ready to rehearse on Day 4, filming in Day 5. WHEW! 10. the Super Full Moon still bright AF on the drive in to our shoot day. Thanks for the ride, @benschyan 11. Blocking Ep. 101 written and directed by Emmylou! 12. I had to join as a background actor - thus the fabulous turtleneck/scarf combo 🤣 13. Got to watch the amazing @annsunsunsunsun work her magic - starting with a oner! 14. Acting as Scripty on my episode - it’s a good 2-for-1 role for the writer since I need to be available to the director. 15. Look at this kick-ass team! Female writer, female director, two female leads - lead by a female showrunner and a female EP?! #PinchMe So great to finally work with @melissacarvajal and wonderful to meet and work with @maggiegagliardi 16. Got to observe the amazing Laura Garcia in action, rocking her handheld oner! 17. Stuck around to background act for Ep. 112’s night shoot (congrats Sam!) which of course got me in the mood for… 18. MARGARITAS! 🤣 19. Actually, our whole team stuck around, and we even got to know our hilarious photo-bombing BTS Videographer 20. Thanks so much for this incredible experience, Pam!
