Bats aren’t blind.🦇

They can see pretty well, but when they’re hunting in the dark, they also use echolocation to “see” with sound.

Maybe “blind as a bat” isn’t giving them enough credit. 👀 #DidYouKnow #FunFacts #AnimalFacts by @k12learn

Separating ONE color into TWO! 🧪✨ Here’s how this chemistry color trick actually works:

What you’ll need: ⬇️
1 cup water
1 cup isopropyl alcohol
Food dye (must be a secondary color like green or purple)
⅓ cup table salt
Tip: Potassium carbonate can give a more vibrant result, but table salt works too!)

How it works:
1️⃣ Water and alcohol normally mix, but water is polar and loves salt’s charged ions. When you add salt, the water forms strong ion-dipole bonds with it and "kicks out" the alcohol into its own separate layer.

2️⃣ Secondary colors are made of different dyes with different chemical polarities. Blue dye is more polar, so it gets pulled down into the salty water layer. Yellow (or red) dye is less polar, so it floats up into the alcohol layer.

A super cool way to see intermolecular forces in action right at home! 👀

⚠️ Adult supervision required. Isopropyl alcohol is highly flammable.

Frida Kahlo spent a lifetime figuring out how she wanted the world to see her. Nearly 100 years later, we’re still making choices about how we present ourselves, especially when filters can change the things we might feel insecure about.

Her story is a reminder that however you choose to put yourself out there, make sure what you’re showing the world is authentically you. #FridaKahlo #ArtHistory #SelfExpression by @k12learn
