i just released my first solo song under the artist name k1ddest. it’s called “have fun being toxic.” on all streaming platforms now - lmk what you think! 🙏

i’ve been sitting on so much music over the past two years and it’s really exciting to finally share some of it with the world!

i wrote this song as a goodbye to my manic pixie therapist era (who can relate??? 😩😩) and as an introduction to a new sound i’ve been wanting to explore
outside of my band @cybergirlfriendofficial ✨

‼️ 🎸❣️ our song “Katie Marie” by @cybergirlfriendofficial is OUT NOW!!!!

this is a very special song to us, and I’m excited for you to hear it.

like most of our songs, it began “ironically.” inspired by a road trip through my hometown, passing by my high school, and being like LOL THAT WAS AN ERA (you know, just normal 23-year-old things). and wanting to channel that through a song. as bri and I developed the song further, it became something I think a lot of people can resonate with: that feeling of not being “good enough.”

if you know me in real life, before this past year I probably never mentioned wanting to make music. not because I wasn’t interested in it, but because I never thought it was possible. my entire life I thought (and I was even told) I had a bad voice, and while I have always loved writing songs, I never sang them. this is the first time my voice is featured on a @cybergirlfriendofficial track (shout out to my singing coach lolol) and it feels like a new chapter!

like most people, i am still struggling with how I want to share my art with the world - whether that’s music, visual art, or creative writing – but if there’s anything that this past year has taught me, it’s that the goal isn’t to be the best at something. it’s to push yourself to be the best version of YOURSELF you can be. it’s scary to share your true self with the world - it can be even scarier to accept who you are to yourself.

thank you for everyone who has pushed me to live more authentically and creatively. thank you to my talented close friends and collaborators @briflasch, @cara__hs @maxbennettkelly for bringing our song (and our upcoming “just friends 4ever” EP!) into fruition. thank you to insanely-musically talented friends from college (Calvin, Eric, Minh, Kushal, Lauren, Kishore, Sophie, Ephraim, Margo, Fatima, Alexa, Ella and everyone else I’ve met along the way) for inspiring me with your extraordinary musical abilities, even if meant keeping me up way too late with your singing. I hold you all dearly in my heart.

i like making art because it doesn’t have to be pretty. with writing, sometimes i spend way too much time trying to make every word “perfect” and it’s really freeing to just grab a piece of paper and be as messy as I want even if the final product isn’t what I originally intended
