A song about my challenges with mental health. I feel as much as you can do one thing is as much as you can do the opposite. I mean that’s the thinking that got me through my own things mentally. If you have the capacity to withstand whatever’s weighing on you, I wouldn’t doubt you couldn’t handle persevering through the other side of things.

I am by no means an expert regarding this topic. I don’t feel the full scope of this can be discussed through an instagram post but I feel this topic needs more awareness. I chose to share about this not only due to my own personal experiences but because I was not aware of just how heavily mental health impacts our Pacific Islander communities as a whole. It is a silent illness that won’t improve with more silence. I’m shining a light specifically on Pacific Islanders not to dismiss the issue among other races but to spread awareness to our people. Mental health is real! All of this information is grouped together from other sources and it’s always best to double check info with some of your own research. Note that the majority of these writings are not mine. The main excerpts are from an article “The Silence That Hurts: Mental Health and Pacific Islander Culture”, written by Tasi&Tales. #suicidepreventionmonth #pacificislander
