After a brief illness, my family and I had to say goodbye to K-9 Doug today, my partner for nearly 7yrs and loyal member of our family for the past 9+ years. K-9 Doug was one hell of a partner. He loved to show off being able to do all sorts of things, usually after being told, No! He was an amazing swimmer completing 5 @swimwithamission 1k swims and using his handsome look and dazzling personality to help fundraise nearly $20,000 for Veterans. K-9 Doug was a solid street dog that handled every challenge and did everything asked of him. K-9 Doug was credited with numerous finds to include evidence and suspects alike. K-9 Doug was also responsible for numerous apprehensions of violent fleeing Criminals. K-9 Doug also obtained numerous certification through organizations like @uspca_k9 and @napwda. K-9 Doug also conducted explosives sweeps for sporting events like the @bostonmarathon and numerous @millenniumrunning events over the years.

K-9 Doug will forever be missed by his family who were all there by his side for his last breaths. There is no doubt in my mind that if K-9 Doug needed to give his life for me he would have. K-9 Doug, like his predecessor K-9 Bud, gave true meaning to,
“Mans Best Friend”. EOW 10/12/25

Thank you @mainevetmedcenter and @vecmnh for your compassionate care throughout Dougie’s final days. by @k9doug162

Once again thank you to all who supported us through kind words and donations to reach our fundraising goal and completing the @swimwithamission 1K! I’m not sure if Dougie will ever get used to being left home when I go to work but he does enjoy tormenting his brother and sister @morph_and_mabel.
If you have a few extra bucks burning a hole in your pocket, today is the final day of fundraising for @swimwithamission 2023! Either cut and paste the link on this post or click the link in the bio. Thanks again for all of your support of this great nations veterans!

First and foremost, Thank you to everyone, for the amazing support that we have received throughout the past 15+ years with the @manchester_nhpd K-9 unit as well as the last 5 years of our 1K @swimwithamission. Secondly, this years 1K Swim was a tough one as it was the last time @k9doug162 will be doing anything with any connection to his job as a Police Dog due to retirement. After this years Swim Dougie will be officially transitioning into a “house pet” (I use that term loosely). The group photo you see is the last for us in the K-9 Unit. As I move into the Detective division and Dougie moves into his new position in “home defense”. This year Dougie and I were able to beat our previous fundraising goal and raise over $5200 for @swimwithamission which we could not have done without the amazing support of our friends and family, thank you all so much. I wish the K-9 unit continued success as we depart and look forward to learning new skills as I learn the ways of a detective. Thank you Chief, for the last bite upon the completion of our swim!

Thank you ❤️

Thank you @bostonpolice and @bostonmarathon for having us down for the assist. Thank you @chickfila for the complimentary sandwich!Didn’t really care for the rain and overcast but it didn’t seem to bother the runners much! Another year in the books.

Bumped into #sasquatch. Dougie and I had a great week of explosives detection training at @tripwire_south_llc in Gettysburg, PA. We were also able to explore some of historic Gettysburg which I highly recommend visiting! Ended the trip with an 8hr drive home through a rain/snowstorm but we made it!
