𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂 (2026) is a new acapella vocal work written for the pre-eminent ensemble of early sacred and Renaissance music for the past 50 years, The Tallis Scholars. ✽ @tallisscholars ❣️ Lorica’s world premiere will be in concert at Basilica Cattedrale Patriarcale di San Marco, October 17, 2026 by commission of La Biennale Musica di Venezia @labiennale alongside works by Arvo Pärt, Hildegard von Bingen, & Gregorio Allegri. This work is written with St. Mark’s distinctive six-second reverb in mind, the very same that inspired Monteverdi when they were maestro di capella. ✽ “Lorica” is a prayer for protection. It comes from the Greek word “breast-plate” θώραξ , the linguistic root of “Thorax” (see also “corselet,” “linen jerkin,” ”coat of mail,” “slough of a serpent,” “bandage of the chest.”) It was later recited in the Latin Vulgate as a symbol of spiritual safety, and popularized in the Irish monastic tradition. We also invoke the “Caim,” which possibly derives from Scottish Gaelic as listed in the Carmina Gaelic meaning “loop, curve, circle, or sanctuary.” ✽ 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂 comprises a litany of invocations in 5 through-composed sections, moving in contrasts between punctuating recitation of imprecatory prayer & modal melody-types that modulate through spectral transitions with portal-esque functions. With Word at the forefront, we honour the practice of the Scholars by taking root in the harmonic foundations of the Renaissance, while treatment of dissonance, harmonic accumulation, confluence, and the idea of -will to resolution- articulate this exact moment. Elsewhere, flowering counterpoint devotionals in imitative polyphony emulate the scandent behaviour of vines: twirling, searching, encircling, ever-reaching, growing. ✽ Many thanks to La Bienalle Musica @labiennale and especially Peter Phillips @tallisscholars & creative director Caterina Barbieri @cat_barbieri for the enormous amount of care, excellence, and commitment involved in bringing this work to Venezia & the honour of your trust. ✽ O God, make me a flower of devotion, so I may serve you all the days of my life ~ ✽ Portraits: Laura Kampman @laurakampman & Hugo Glendinning by @k__lc

𝑨 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝑺𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 (2025) ⁂ is a collection of nine solo piano works that explore resistance, resonance, and space with spectral sensitivity. These pieces are nocturnes, written deep in conservation in Winter, and are of a period of refuge from maximal sound. We find 𝘪𝘯𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘩𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘮 here - that is, temporalities inherent to velocity and pitch combinations, to frame space, time, and action. You can hear “Turning Multitudes” today. LP/Digital will be released Worldwide on @smalltownsupersound & CD/Digital in Canada on Gate September 12th. Preorder is available now. Thank-you. ♡ by @k__lc

Wood, water, sunlight, glass and metal became the starting point for CHANGES IN AIR, a composition by @k__lc receiving its world premiere as a live concert on 10 October 2026 at Teatro alle Tese, as part of #AChildOfSound. Originally conceived as an installation for a floating sauna overlooking the Oslo fjord, the work evolved into a five-part composition for electric organ, modular synthesiser and piano, where timbre becomes a means of exploration and matter is translated into a shifting interplay of resonances, layers and sonic transformations. Joined by Silver Lioness @sarahdavachi on electronic organ, Coverdale created an ever-evolving listening landscape in which sound and matter met, interacted and transformed one another. Thank you to all who have listened to Endocrine by Kara-Lis Coverdale (@k__lc )so far! Cocon was originally developed as a live performance in collaboration with the incredible artist Nick Verstand (@nickverstand ). Together with 8, 3-metre long robots that produce smoke, light and lasers, we create a cocon on stage which morphs and transforms with the music. The musical sensitivity of Nick and his team allows them to control the robots in real time to respond to the changes in the music. To celebrate the release of Endocrine, we wanted to share a short excerpt from the live show. Kara-Lis’s piece is positioned in the middle of the set and forms the beating heart of the program. We always feel the audience relax and zone in to this piece. The robots seem to take on a sensitivity as they support the dense warmth of the music. For anyone in or near the Hague, you can see us perform Cocon tonight (Thursday 17/9) Friday (18/9) and Saturday (19/9) at @korzotheater Cocon is out on the 13th of November. You can pre-save the album via the link in our bio. by @k__lc
