1st step of Menzerna Heavy Cut 400 and Wool is almost done. I have the driver side and tail panel to go. Then I'll put on a black foam pad and run over the whole car again with the heavy cut 400. Before finishing with foam and the 3800 polish. Video doesn't show it, but there are wool marks in the paint when you shine a light on it. I run over it again with the compound and foam to remove the wool marks and polish the paint a touch more. Then the final polish isn't working as hard. This will be polished and outside by the weekend's end. I'm determined to see it in the sun, whether it's overcast or not. #1968camaro #camaro #chevrolet #nortonabrasives #nextlevelblocks #showquality #refinishfamily #ppgrefinish #menzernapolish @ppgrefinish @nortonabrasivesna @menzerna.global @nextlevelblocks by @k_courtright

This was a strip to metal and repaint project. Once the car was disassembled and stripped to metal. Epoxy was applied and the panels reinstalled and aligned. Body work was done with the car assembled. Multiple rounds of primer & blocking. I then laid down the PPG basecoat and topped with 4 coats of clear. Flat sanded, buffed and then put back together. ▪︎Bodywork, primer application & reassembly by @wolfgangrenemusic ▪︎Reassembly and final detail by @autojunkie04 @ppgrefinish @anest_iwata @nortonabrasivesna @itwevercoat @menzerna_north_america #1959cadillac #cadillac #cadillaclasalleclub #pinkcadillac #anestiwata #ppgrefinish #evercoatultra #menzernapolish #nortonabrasives by @k_courtright

Sound deadener.. does it make a difference? Yes?.. but it's not gonna make a tin can feel like a new Mercedes. Door glass alignment and overall panel/glass to gasket seal is most important. I don't buy the hype of name brand products. I feel it's small percent gains for 4x the cost. I know I go overkill in this step compared to what you see done elsewhere. I roll every square inch and tape all my seams and then roll the tape. IMO, if you still see the embossed design on the sound deadener, you didn't fully install it. The design is there so you know where you haven't rolled. Roll it until the embossing is gone. I used almost 4 boxes of 3mm deadener on what you see. Little under 120sq ft. I'll contact cement some jute padding in spots next. Roof, firewall, wheel tubs and back seat area are what I'll focus on. #fordmustang #1966mustang #sounddeadener #mustang #classiccars by @k_courtright

Feels good to be in the reassembly stage. Few parts left to paint but the majority is done. Painting the dash and installing the windshields are up next. Along with trans install and the remaining engine bay parts. On the downward slope now. #fordmustang #1966mustang #ford302 #ford #grabberblue by @k_courtright

Something a little different. In an industry of shaving and smoothing everything. I'm adding some texture back. I'm not a fan of free advertising on parts, so branding must be removed. Thanks for the stickers I put everywhere in the garage but I don't need your name plastered everywhere on the part. I wanted to add a different texture into the engine bay ontopof smoothing logos out. With everything in the engine bay will be sprayed semi gloss black. The motor, heads, intake, water pump and water neck now have a cast iron texture. Everything else has a smooth surface that will be semi gloss black. The texture difference will be enough to contrast the different parts sprayed in semi gloss. I'm a fan of "hiding" performance parts and making them appear oem. Whether that be painting them oem colors or in this case, adding texture to parts that from factory, were textured. In the end, it's a conversation piece. Something that will make someone do a double take or ask questions. #1966mustang #ford302 #fordmustang #blueprintengines by @k_courtright

Engine bay and rad support are in paint. A lot has been shaved, modified and smoothed. Entire bay and support has been bodyworked. Not to exterior of vehicle levels but nice none the less. Next step is to reinstall the front suspension and make the car a roller again. Along with prepping the motor and trans for paint for reinstall. The pace will be picking up from here now that the grunt work is done. #fordmustang #1966mustang #mustang #ppgrefinish #grabberblue by @k_courtright

Last of the random metalwork. I didn't like how the engine brace sat on top of the cowl. With the cowl and firewall being body color. I wanted a nicer color break between the brace and cowl. So, I put too much time into modifying the brace and cowl. The cowl flange was ground down, and I silicone bronzed the edge to cap the edge of the layers of sheetmetal. I cut out and welded in plate steel to bolt the brace to. Plug welding it to the lower firewall metal before perimeter welding it in. I put plate steel in there so when the hardware is tightened, the metal won't dimple. The end of the brace was cut off, and 3/16 plate was welded to it and braced up. I'm using weld studs in the engine bay to remove bolt/nuts. I grind them to look like a rivet, and they will be color matched to where they go in the engine bay. I welded in new metal for the booster/master. Bunch of stress cracks that ended up ugly when I tried to weld them. So I just did what was right and welded in new metal. I'm working on the dash now, and we'll be into epoxy, bodywork, and paint on these items. I'm trying to get everything at the same point for color. #fordmustang #ford302 #metalwork #ponycar #grabberblue #mustangnation #1966mustang #mustang by @k_courtright

Spent the weekend at my Dad's. Aside from the sadness of a family member's funeral. Our son got some Poppy & Grammy time as they watched him for a good 5hrs on Sat. Miles also got a solo "buggy" ride with his Poppy Sunday morning to check the trail cameras and switch out memory cards. It's time to start shooting the bow daily. There's a good 5+, 8 pointer, or larger bucks running around. Sunday before coming home, we drove over to see the Camaro. My 1st time seeing it since the customer put wheels on it and installed the interior. I looked it over real good. It's nice when you see a job months after it leaves. Forget everything that bugged you, and you see it for what you did as a whole. I'm really happy with the convertible top. The owner hasn't put it down yet because he doesn't want to wrinkle the rear window. It also helps it has cold AC. Miles and I also got a ride in it around the block. Car has that iconic muscle car sound with its built 327 going through its chambered exhaust. On friday, the owner offered the keys to it for the weekend, but I wasn't ready to drive it yet. Next time, I'll take him up on the offer and take it for a drive. It'll have to be an early morning thing before all the idiots populate the road, lol. #camaro #Chevrolet #ppgrefinish #musclecar #1968camaro #showquality #trailcamera #gamecamera by @k_courtright

Finished the exhaust from the header to mufflers last week. Now, to measure out for some exhaust wrap. Open to methods for that if anyone has one. In a different life, I would have done it differently, but I'm pleased with the results. I have to put on the rear tail panel to locate the exhaust tips to finish the exhaust. In the meantime, I want to run the fuel lines so I can route the rear portion of the exhaust away from them. #1966mustang #ford302 #fordmustang #stainlessexhaust #spintechmufflers #exhaustwrap by @k_courtright

So @cumminschevycrew brought up photos of how I taped this Camaro up as we're in a discussion on the best approach for his project. I realized I never showed the few pics I took of the process and end result. Cliff notes for anyone who hasn't followed along. I sprayed the jambs and assembled the car. I prepped the jambs by sanding them to 2000 grit. Not concerned with final finish, but making sure the 1st ¼" of the jamb is smooth and scuffed. I then hard line taped all the jambs of the car with fine line. The fine line was placed just past the radius of the panel edge. It is critical for this method that the tape be applied on the edge or on the radius of whatever panel edge/jamb. With my exterior panels prepped in 600 wet, I went straight to basecoat and finished with 5 coats of clear. Skipping the sealer step is another important part of this process. If you spray sealer into a taped jamb, whether soft/hard lined. The sealer will get in the deepest, and the base/clear will sit on top. Leaving a faint sealer edge once the tape is removed. After the exterior paint has been sanded and buffed, I do the jambs last. I use a hard block and depending on the thickness of the paint edge. Start with 1000/1500/2000 grit. Thicker edges, coarser grit. No rhyme or reason, but some spots end up with higher build and need more initial aggression with grit. If you are careful, wipe & check frequently. Using a hard block, you can remove the paint edge and blend it into the panel radius. The faint line you see later in the pictures is the effect of the metallic basecoat lying against the edge of the fine line. The end result has no edge. The clear is smooth from the exterior to the interior. You just see the faint metallic line if you're within 6 inches or so from the panel. Is this labor intensive? Yes, but I only have a 650 sq ft shop with 240 sq ft paint booth. In a perfect world, I would spray the car together in basecoat, disassemble, and clear. This was my best approach to producing the end product where EVERY panel matches. IMO, it's a crime to charge high end $$$ if you can't make the car 100% match. #1968camaro #ppgrefinish #anestiwata #highend #camaro #showquality by @k_courtright
