Insulate to reset.

This weekend we visited @soulwaveholistics While my deepest connection was/is mine alone, there was so much excitement for my husband to travel on his journey right next to me.

Makena had the bowls singing. The vibrations made my emotions do the cha cha, my mind did a praise dance, and my spirit was the perfect ballerina. The end of the session came with refreshing tears of release. I am lighter, clearer, and aligned with the universe.

God is the best of planners. It is with Him I put my trust and fear not.

Fun fact: I tried being in my soft girl era BUT the way life is set up…

October has been deemed the great separation. Shedded a few relationships and lost the dog to possible cancer. For some that’s a lot. (In my JayZ voice)

Always show up for yourself💫

6 months of consistent walking has been transformative for me physically, mentally, and spiritually.

These special walks are important because I get to connect with God and marvel at His natural creations.

These moments have allowed me to sweat out toxicity. Smile at love. Laugh at adversity. Vision the future I’m stepping into.

Moral of the story? Never give up!

Oh yes, shoutout to my husband for being the camera guy. I love the encouragement he continues to pour over me💕

Wisdom Wednesday:

Never be afraid to start over.

My last hair loc journey came with commitment. I declared #iAmNotMyHair . It was also a statement in solidarity with my husband who had lion locs at the time. Fast forward to COVID-19 pandemic, everything was shut down and I was left to maintain my mane. It was at that time I realized major hair loss at my crown. All the dope styles and frequent salon trips had over manipulated and pulled at my roots. I had no idea!

Getting my husband to understand why it was necessary to cut my hair off was a challenge. He felt like I was breaking our shared loc bond. After reluctancy, thought and consideration he supported my physical and mental health to get my scalp and hair to its optimum level.

I showed up to my retwist appointment with a request to CUT IT OFF… #BigChop . I wore a natural style a year or more. Again, I learned my hair textured had changed a lot. With age, coloring, locs, and many styles … it had thinned, lacked structure, and there was not much volume.

@baybeast510 kept my hair color 🔥until June 2024, my last coloring. I knew without a 2nd thought, it was time to see how far my natural hair color would take me. @shesenseisalon started doing trichology techniques to stimulate my hair roots. My natural highlights began to grow out and my hair slowly began to thicken. From Fall 24 to Spring 25 my almost bald spot has holistically filled in.

If you have read this far.. the point of it all is … embrace your journey, be ready to pivot, give yourself grace bc your choice does not always have to be irrevocable.

I’m loving my #GreyHairTransition and should the day come that I want to color it again, I will - without shame. For now, I’m rocking my #GrayHairMovement - without shame 👩🏾‍🦳

#memories

Much has changed in 30 years. These few pictures remind me of a both a younger time with my brother as well as a couple of our last days together.

My dad made sure I was not an only child, but it was Kojo and I that shared the same biological parents. My brother through and through. We shared the same laughs and kept the same household secrets. #LifeLessons

His laugh rings through my thoughts as I type. His contagious smile still makes me smirk. His mischievous ways continues to give me pause as I look over my shoulder. Moreover, his love and our bond is why he lives forever.

I am forever grateful that Allah chose us to be siblings. Our time together may not have physically been long enough but it was just right to carry out God’s Will.
