⚽🔥 I had the pleasure of creating this FIFA World Cup 2026 poster for Fox Sports.

I wanted to capture some of the elements that make Croatian football instantly recognizable: the iconic checkerboard pattern, flames inspired by the Vatreni ("The Fiery Ones"), and stylized motifs drawn from Croatian cultural heritage.
One of my favourite things about illustration is combining culture and storytelling into a single image, and this project was a great opportunity to do exactly that.

A big thank you to Fox Sports for trusting me with this project. It's also been amazing to see the incredible work created by all the other artists involved in this World Cup poster series @foxsoccer

⚽ Which detail catches your eye first?

Here's the first fantasy trope you commented in my recent reel - Found Family ✨

Hope you like it.

Been a bit busy with work lately, so this was a good opportunity to take a break 😁

I'm not here to gatekeep or be mysterious, so here it is: before I send any illustration to a client, I shrink it down to a tiny thumbnail and squint at it.

Book cover, character design, packaging, a card, it doesn't matter. Most people first see your work small, in a feed, on a screen, or on a shelf, in a split second.
At that size, the pretty details can vanish. What's left has to show where to look, what it's about, and what feeling it carries. Then, once someone looks closer, the handmade detail is what makes them stay.

I turned my small-size checks into a 7-point checklist. I made it for covers, but it works for any illustration that has to hold up small.

Comment THUMB and I'll send you The Thumbnail Test. 📌 taken in Worldwide by @kadar.art

I was in the mood for long flowy hair, anf gave her head wings in the process.

Who do you think she is? - fallen angel, raven spirit or maybe a dark fae queen?🐦‍⬛

Normalize posting the process.

It's the least aesthetic part of the job.

It's also where the actual work happens. The final image only shows where I ended up.

So here's the unpolished version. taken in Worldwide by @kadar.art

Enemies to lovers? Chosen one? Found family? Or something else? 🐉

Comment your fave fantasy trope and I'll illustrate it! ✨

Tropes are often the reason we pick up a book in the first place, so I want to know which ones you can't resist.

P.S. Writing your own fantasy? A trope only sells if readers can see it at thumbnail size, and your cover gets about one second on a tiny screen. I made a free Thumbnail Checklist so your cover still reads clearly at that size. Comment me THUMB and I'll send it over 🖤 taken in Worldwide by @kadar.art

Here's something I wish more people knew:

Most readers first see your cover as a tiny thumbnail, scrolling past a hundred others. So I ask two things of every cover. Does it grab you from far away? And is there enough detail to make you stop and look closer?

If you're working on a fantasy or romantasy cover, or you've got one that isn't getting the attention it deserves, I'd love to help.

Not sure where yours stands? Comment THUMB and I'll send you my free Thumbnail Test, a quick 7-point checklist to see if your cover stands out. 📌 taken in Worldwide by @kadar.art

The full Circus Cats cast is finally here! 🎪

I've been building this circus cat series for a while, and this is the first time you're seeing the whole cast together: The Ringmaster, Claudette, Silk, Lucio, Alexei, Boxy, the Twin Blades,Ruby, Fortuna and Kalfu.

Each cat has their own frame, their own style that tells you what they do under the big top.

I like making things that look handmade and are packed with detail, and I think books deserve that too.

A good cover works like a circus poster: it has to catch you from across the street, then reward you when you step closer.

That's why I put together The Thumbnail Checklist, a 7-point checklist for seeing whether your cover still works at 100 pixels wide, where most readers first meet it.

If you're working on a book, or about to start, comment "THUMB" and I'll send it over.

Alsooo like, share & save this if you love a little vintage circus magic. It took me way too long to finish this 😂 Tell me in the comments: which act would you watch first? taken in Worldwide by @kadar.art
