This is my 25th Anniversary of Touring appreciation post. . I was 22 years old, January 17th 2000, leaving my house for my first tour. I thought it would be a few months or a year. I had no idea it would turn into a career, & the most surreal life I couldn't have imagined. I want to give a BIG THANKS to @PapaRoach & @AlienAntFarmOfficial for giving me the opportunity. I am forever grateful to them. All the love & homies for life! . My first tour was selling merch for Papa Roach, in the van and trailer days, before Last Resort came out. A year later, I started with Alien Ant Farm, my first guitar tech gig! . This job has taken me around the world, too many times to count (62 countries so far), cities I never knew existed until I saw the name on my booking, & so many incidents of having to step outside of my reality, slap my remote viewing face and check myself, because I myself can't believe how I ended up in that place or situation. I feel I've had one of the best educations in the world through travel, better than any institution of learning can give. . I would LOVE to thank everyone individually, but that is just too many people for one post. Here's to all the incredible humans & non humans I've met, the talented and talentless, artists, creative weirdos, true assholes, all the bands I've met that I haven't worked with directly, (most of) the crews I've shared the stages with. You've shown me who to be, and who not to be, and shared ∞ +1 laughs with. . OH MY GOTH!! It's world goth day. | | /X( ;; )X\ . I went on a trip to Spain a few weeks ago. Here are some pics of a goth doing the gothy thing in Spain. . 1. As far a i know, the only fountain statue dedicated to the fallen angel, Lucifer. Madrid. 2. "Selfie with the devil" (humming Van Halen, #NotGoth, to myself). The devil here helped build an aqueduct for the city, and he came back to admire his handy work with a proud selfie. Segovia 3. His work. Segovia 4. I want to send a HUGE "THANK YOU" to @dredgtheband for sending me a personalized copy of their Vault Book. This is a beautifully designed and made, scrap book of the bands entire history. . This brings back lots of tour memories. I first met Dredg in 2001 on an @alienantfarmofficial tour. We had a lot of crazy times on tours throughout the following years. Dredg is easily one of my top 5 favorite bands, and in particular, the album El Cielo is one of my favorite albums of all time! A must listen. . I LOVE YOU @dino_not_dyno. Mexico City, it's like a Russian built Tokyo ("you had to be there"). I love this city! Like all great cities of the world, it's full of culture, history, a"maize"ing food, and friendly people. . If anyone has the drop on "the spot" to check out, eat, or explore... suggestions are welcome. Except the archeology museum, Teotihuacan, and the Doll Island in Xochimilco. Yes, I'm aware of them, duh. . Here are some photos from a little stroll around the Coyocán (place of coyotes) district. . 1-3. La Conchita Chapel, or Church Of Immaculate Conception, was likely the first church built in Mexico City, by Cortez. It was built on top of a Toltec alter, and dedicated in 1525. In 2013, archeologists found the remains of 150 people, dating back to 600ad, around the fall of Teotihuacan. 4. Arcos del ex convento de San Juan Bautista, the entrance to the Centennial Garden, a beautiful and historic park. 5. Fountain Of The Coyotes, the centerpiece of the Centennial Garden. 6. Azul - I don't know what to say about this one, except I just like how it looked while walking around. 7. The Artisan Market. Anyone else like a big Jacaranda tree when they're in bloom? 8-9. At the entrance to the market is a toy graveyard. Vintage toys are given their final standing place. Florida Road Trip: Part 3 January 15, 2021 . Not much can beat waking up early, and kayaking the smooth, clear, spring fed Ichetuknee River, and no other human souls within earshot. It was roughly a 1.5h, 3 mile (4.8km) float cruise through the State Park of the same name. . There's no shortage of sunbathing turtles, Cormorants, Blue Heron, Egrets, Mullet, Gar, this manatee, and swamps. Like an underwater blimp, the manatee silently drifted right under our kayak, for a few hundred feet. Florida Road Trip: Part 2 January 12-13th, 2021 . It was my first time to Key West, and I really enjoyed it there. There is so much history, good food, and the locals were super friendly. Yes, I wear pants, sometimes. . 1. It's technically the most Southern PUBLIC tip of the US. There's an Navy base on the other side of the fence that goes a tad further south. Good enough for the 'gram 2, 3, 5. A few of the buildings we saw walking around the old town. 4. Sunset from Mallory Square, at the West end of the island, for you sunset impaired 6. It's all gotta begin somewhere... 7. If you know me, to know I LOVE big old thicc-trunked trees... Like this fine fella. 8, 9.
