We were honored to have Wynton read today’s lineup card before our game against Little Caesars at the OHL Battle of the Border. 🏒💙

Wynton plays AAA hockey for the 2017 Sun County Panthers and, like me, lives with Type 1 diabetes.

Today, we made a promise to each other: “Diabetes will NOT define us.” We’ll battle through the highs and lows together, support each other, and keep chasing our dreams.

This is an exciting time for sport in Canada! As fans across the country come together to celebrate competition, teamwork and community, we're excited to welcome Kade O'Rourke as Breakthrough T1D Canada's newest youth ambassador.

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) four years ago, Kade continues to pursue his goals on and off the ice while playing elite hockey with the U16 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Through his determination, leadership and commitment to giving back, he's showing other children and families living with T1D what's possible!

Kade is already making an impact in the T1D community, from supporting the Breakthrough T1D Walk to hosting fundraising initiatives and helping raise awareness. We're excited to work alongside him as he continues to inspire others and champion our mission of creating a world free from T1D.

Over the coming months, we'll share more of Kade's journey on the ice, in the community and as an advocate for everyone affected by T1D. You may even see him at this fall's Breakthrough T1D Walk in Hamilton!
