I turned a COB LED strip into dragon fire!

I designed this fantasy 3D printed Dragon vs. Warrior Lamp for the @makerworld_official COB LED Light Challenge.

The LED runs through the dragon and coils inside the translucent fire, creating that intense glowing effect.

A new #dragon #lamp for your bookshelf. Commercial License in bio.

I was recently re-watching the movie Tangled when the flying paper lantern scene came on. I’ve always loved that scene and decided I needed a lantern like that for my own bookshelf. Immediately jumped into Blender to model this dark fantasy dragon lantern companion.

It wasn’t a completely smooth flight—real-world physics hit hard! As soon as I popped the LED light inside, the center of gravity shifted, and it tipped right over.

Back to Blender, I went to recalibrate the balance, add secure nips to the hands so the lantern locks in place, and optimize the geometry for cleaner, minimal supports.

Finished it off with some silver dry-brushing to catch those perfect, moody rim light reflections!

Specs: ~73g filament, fully manifold, optimized for FDM. Modeled in Blender, printed on Bambu Lab. taken in Washington D. C. by @kadisgfx
