Sewing for my sanity ๐Ÿ˜…

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well!

I won't get into the details but basically I have been struggling with my health since last September.
Luckily, I do feel like the worse is behind me, and I am very grateful for that. However, this experience has really forced me to step back, and I am going to take a break from posting for now.
I am not sure when I will be back - but I will be back at some point!

I have way more important things to prioritise in my personal life right now.
Thank you to anyone who has checked on me when I shared about my health on my story - I really appreciate it ๐Ÿค—.
Thank you also to all the brands I partner with, as they have all been extremely supportive.
I do have a backlog on that front that I will prioritize once I am up and running again.

It will be at a different pace for sure, and in a way that will align more with how I want to sew going forward. On top of my health & family & personal priorities, which will be taking a good chunk of my time - and I am including basics in these i.e exercising 3 times a week - I also feel like I need more time to enjoy other hobbies as well.

But sewing is not going anywhere ๐Ÿ˜Š - just at a slower, more enjoyable pace. I do not want to feel rushed anymore, as at the end of the day, this is a hobby for me - so I am adopting a 0 stress policy going forward with any project.

Thank you for making this community so great to be part of, and I will still be checking on everyone else's sewing while I take a break from posting.

Always around for DMs ๐Ÿค—

Take care everyone ! by @kadycrea

DISCOUNT CODE below if you're interested ๐Ÿ˜Š

Sewing this dress was such a palate cleanser ๐Ÿ˜ - I enjoyed every step of the construction and cannot recommend it enough if you want a dress that is versatile enough to be worn on any occasion.

The belt is optional, but I do love this look and can see myself wearing it with the belt more often than not. It really elevates the overall look of the dress, and I can absolutely see myself wearing this as a wedding guest ๐Ÿ˜Š.

There is a 50% discount on the @cutting_edge_patterns etsy shop with the code PINEAPPLE50 if you like this pattern ๐Ÿ˜Š.

This dress is going to become a staple in my wardrobe and I will make more versions for sure.

A massive thank you again to Libby for sending me this pattern without any obligation to sew it.

I truly love it ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

This is by far my favourite summer dress this year ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜!

I am completely in love with this pattern, and there will be many more versions to come. In fact, I might sew this dress every summer ๐Ÿ˜…!

This is the Pineapple Dress, and this pattern was gifted to my by the lovely Libby at @cutting_edge_patterns without any obligation to sew it.

She is a small business, so I am very happy to support her with my honest review.

I can truly say that the instructions were extremely well written, and they are absolutely beginner friendly !

You also have many video tutorials you can refer to if the written instructions are not enough for you to understand any part of the construction. I was very impressed, to say the least!

Sewing this dress was definitely a walk in the park, and I can't recommend this pattern enough!

Libby has given me a discount code if you are interested in getting this pattern, which is PINEAPPLE50 ! This will give you 50% off her patterns, and you can find these on her Etsy shop ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I have more pictures to show you and until then have a lovely week ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค—!

This is Thalia ๐Ÿ˜Š - one of the patterns from the new @fibremood that has just been released (edition 35).

The patterns come in families now, and this pattern is part of the T-family along with Tiany.

Thalia is the playful version with this original twist across the chest. The twist is really what made me want to sew this pattern!
Just be careful as your fabric really needs to have enough elasticity - I therefore highly recommend that you either start with a toile of the same elasticity than your fabric, or that you do what I did - which is basting everything before sewing each seam for good.

A massive thank you to my dear sewing friend @there_c_sews for her very useful feedback as she really helped on this ๐Ÿค—!

Y tambieฬn muchiฬsimas gracias @macusewinglove por nuestra conversacioฬn porque modifiqueฬ el cruce al final y funcionoฬ ๐Ÿค—!

I do recommend this pattern for beginners as the instructions were good, and the twist across the chest makes it look way more complicated than it actually is ๐Ÿ˜‰.

This pattern was gifted to me in exchange of my honest pattern review.

I am so pleased with this new project and my poor husband had to answer several times whether he liked it or not - bless him!

This is what I love the most about sewing - the feeling you get when you wear your handmade garment. And I feel amazing in this ensemble (thank you to the couple of ladies who used that word to describe my outfit - I feel less ignorant lol)

The fabric is a stunning linen viscose from @minervadotcom and I highly recommend you have a look at their range for your winter makes. They have beautiful prints and the quality is great - I cannot recommend their fabrics enough. I've never been disappointed, even way before I became a Minerva Brand Ambassador.

The first pattern I used is from the "Make It Yours" Book by Mimi G - which I highly recommend - such an amazing book! There are many alterations and hacks that are very well explained to tweak all the base patterns. It's so great!

I used her Camisole pattern and lengthened it quite a bit as the initial base pattern is designed to be worn as a crop top. Next time I will make sure to grade it out slightly as it is a little bit too "straight" over my hips. Overall an easy and straightforward make.

The other pattern I use is the Simplicity #s9756 from which I had already made the trousers. This time I made both the shirt and trousers. The instructions were actually really good as I did not feel lost at any point while sewing the shirt. I love it so much and there will be more to come. I also really enjoyed making the trousers once again as I self-drafted the waistband so that the elastic was only needed at the back. I wanted the trousers to be more classy/working trousers like this time, and this won't be my last version.

As always being 6 ft tall all patterns were lengthened to some extent ! If you want to hear all about this project in details, you can have a look at my latest video on Youtube where I give you all the tea!

I am officially in love with ensembles !

Thank you @mimigstyle.

You have inspired me so much and you are one of the reasons I gave sewing a go 4 years ago.

Back then I would have never thought that I would be able to sew anything close to this.

You are one of my biggest inspirations and this outfit was fully inspired by these last 4 years watching your art and creativity.

I just wanted to say thank you again ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ.

Sewing with bedsheets was a new experience for me and certainly won't be the last ๐Ÿ˜. I've enjoyed sewing this project so much that this will have to become a tradition I think ๐Ÿ˜….

This Summer co-ord set is definitely going in the favourite sewing makes list.

Thank you @georgeatasda ๐Ÿ˜!

When I saw these @georgeatasda bedsheets, I immediately thought about a Summer co-ord I had seen on Pinterest a while back.

I had to sew this straight away as there was nothing else I could think of for about a week ๐Ÿ˜… - I am so glad I run with that idea ๐Ÿ˜.

I went for the #fibremooduzma top which I had 0 idea was in my stash (and of course I ordered a similar pattern just before I realised I had it in my stash ๐Ÿ™„). This top was very easy to sew and I definitely recommend it to confident beginners except the armholes step which is not the most straight forward and I recommend you watch a video tutorial with a similar construction. I absolutely love how it looks in these bedsheets ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™.

The second pattern is the trousers of the #s9756 Asimplicy uk Asimplicity us which I hacked following mimiG style book " (I highly recommend this book by the way if you want to give self-drafting a go). I added 7 cm to each trouser leg width wise and inserted one 4 cm elastic instead of the 2 or 3 narrower elastics to use in the initial pattern. This alteration was very eye opening for me as I realised how much I enjoyed it and it reminded me when I was first starting to learn how to self-draft last year. I am definitely going back on that wagon ๐Ÿ˜….

I would love to reach a stage where I can just sew anything I see online or walking down the street, using the patterns that I own and some alterations.

I am so pleased with how this project has turned out and there will be more co-ords to come as I am now obessessed ๐Ÿ˜… - thank you sewists friends for all the inspiration as well ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™.

Onto the next bedsheets now ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜...

Where did I mess up ๐Ÿ˜…?
A. I am wearing the back of the top as the front as I much prefer the print. So not the greatest fit but good enough for me.
B. The crotch is too short.

How to avoid this next time ๐Ÿ˜Ž?
A. I should have paired the part of the fabric I wanted to cut out with the trousers before cutting it out.
B. I should have made a toile first (in fact, technically this is my toile...sort of ๐Ÿ˜…)

A very special make for a very special person ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉต๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’œ!

Let me introduce you to my gorgeous sister ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅฐ who wanted a special dress for her birthday - I won't disclose when the dress was ordered as I am too ashamed ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜….

She chose both the pattern and the fabric for this project and we went for the Prim Dress by @daisy.and.peace on Etsy.

The pattern was easy to make but I would probably advise to be a confident beginner just so you know exactly what to do for each step.

We chose a batik fabric from @poundfabrics which was very easy to sew with and the colours are really stunning on her ๐Ÿ˜!

She looked so happy in her dress and these pictures really made my day ๐Ÿฅน! I am also very pleased with the fit as I took her measurement a while back (and no, still not disclosing when ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚).

It makes me want to sew a bit more for other people as lately I have been very selfish with my time and my sewing ๐Ÿ˜… - but I guess not having much time for myself is the reason why.

Hopefully I can fit in a few selfless projects before Christmas ๐Ÿ˜ฌ - not promising anything lol

I did NOT think this pattern would suit my body shape for 1 second...but @sewoveritlondon managed to change my mind on jumpsuits FOREVER! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

SO THANK YOU! to the amazing team behind those great patterns and the best instructions I've come across so far!

This is their brand new pattern - the Courtney Jumpsuit - and I cannot believe that I would love a jumpsuit so much!

I will have some tiny tweaks to do in my next version, but very happy with the overall fit. I had to grade between sizes between the bodice (hello princess seams lol !!! ๐Ÿ˜†) and the trousers, and I'm so glad it worked out!! It actually gave me the shape I was going for, so very pleased with the final look.

Sewing has allowed me to understand a lot better what type of clothes work for my body shape - hence why I was a little bit on the fence with this pattern but I am now looking at jumpsuits with a whole new perspective ๐Ÿ˜Š!

It's not perfect, but I love this jumpsuit so much ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—!

This pattern was gifted to me as a Pattern Insider for Sew Over It.

รทENรท I am now part of the team of sewists that has access to the Fibre Mood patterns prior to the official release of their magazine ๐Ÿค—! I've always had a thing for their patterns since I started sewing and I've sewn some of them more than once ๐Ÿ˜.

I decided to sew the Zen Top and the Jazz Skirt from the edition 33, and I'm pleased that I chose these 2 patterns. My husband thought that it was a dress at first glance ๐Ÿ˜….

These patterns are really simple but also versatile and this is what I liked about them! They are both fully lined which makes them really comfortable to wear.

I can see myself wearing them as an outfit or separately this Summer ๐Ÿค—!
