@liam.martin1105 with his final run at Showstopper Nationals ⭐️ a true labor of love for both of us - the work behind piecing this together in many spaces (🙈) is what keeps me motivated as an educator and choreographer. Every single piece is special and has its own story - winning is great and all but honestly this kid just dances from his heart which is the real win! #dmbtapseries is a thing now I guess 🤣 But I’ve been working The Stone in my head since I heard it for the first time time - it’s a magical song. And I can’t say enough about @davematthewsband as an artist, or as an advocate for the Good in the 🌍. I did not edit this so perfectly to the music - but wow! I love these kids. I’ve been on the road and doing pieces day after day (in hours 🙃) so my brain is a little mashed potatoes 🙈 3 started, 1 more group to start! I love the way things are taking shape! The next 3 months are going to be bananas 🍌- but I have to remember that we ain’t curing cancer here. I know the pressure we feel as choreographers - just know that YOUR voice matters whether you have 10 followers or a million. We should be having F-U-N exploring all of the flavors of dance! These guys are all over the spectrum this season - I love to challenge them artistically and technically…and take music that inspires movement so they FEEL dance, not just “do” dance. Some classes we take a long song and just play with a step for 5-10 minutes - everyone kinda finds their own path as well all have different things to work on!
The steps we worked individually : 5 beat shuffle / graboffs / single wing to a swap / behind the back riffle / behind the back shuffle - now we smash them together in many different orders to see what we can spit out! I find a LOT of NEW steps this way! We will do this over the next 8 weeks - today feels like a mountain to them but just wait 🫶🏻
Not too late to join my open tap classes! This class meets at 4:30-5:45 on Wed nights!

I’ve had this Swingin’ step in my mind all day …. I feel like it *kinda* feels like another time step I learned many moons ago…..so we’ll call her Jane Doe for now! I promised myself if I was going to keep dancing and teaching, I had to remain a forever student. I run on creative fuel and surround myself with likeminded educators and artists that are passionate about their craft! Instead of saying “I wish we could bring…” just say YES. Do the thing that scares you! Dance is medicine to me as I know it is for so many of you!

Jazz Fundamentals with a dash of stylizing - the body lines are difficult and “sit” different on every BODY. It’s all about the line achieved and how it works in your facility!
I was born with not the best turnout, biscuits for feet, so my whole life I’ve had to “work” with my ingredients to camouflage. I’m hyper aware of foot placement on transitions, leading with that heel forward, and using inner thighs to their fullest! I share with each individual student how to make THEIR bodies work for THEM!
