ty to everyone who came to paddle out today (or cheer on the shore) in honor of timmy🤍

i’m so grateful for the numerous times i got to go out and spend hours in the ocean, surfing with my dad. while i wish i could do it one last time, i was so happy to paddle out and surf in his honor today. i know my dad would have looooved to see all his friends and family together surfing at sunrise. his literal dream. i’m sure he was doing a happy dance in the sky.

this morning felt like a perfect way to celebrate his birthday weekend. the hamby family is feeling so so loved☺️☺️ by @kaelynhamby

i don’t quite know how to put into words everything i want to say, but what i do know is this: my dad was the best dad in the whole world. he was adventurous, kind, humble, empathetic, resilient, selfless, loving, and so much more. he taught me everything i needed to know to navigate what can be such a cruel world at times.

this is undoubtedly the hardest thing i’ve ever had to go through. it’s incredibly difficult to see the positive when there is so much to grieve. but in one of the last conversations i had with my dad, he offered my mom, sister, and i nothing but encouragement. despite all he had been through, he remained positive. that was one of the many traits i admired most about him.

my dad brought so much joy to so many people. he was so deeply and profoundly loved. i will miss him like crazy, but i know he would not want me to dwell in sadness. he would not want me to be bitter or angry. while i wish more than anything that he were still here, i am endlessly grateful for every moment i was blessed to have with him.

as much as it hurts, i feel a deep sense of peace knowing that he is no longer suffering. holding onto that brings me comfort, even in the midst of this heartbreak. while this journey will be difficult, i intend to carry his light and his positivity with me and share it with others.
