oh lovely, handsome man of mine. You’re patient, the hardest worker I’ve ever seen, and a true blue family man. You’re also insanely good at living room tag and the best dad I could’ve ever dreamt up for our kids. I love slowly (but surely…?) figuring out life with you!

random little 2024 selfie dump to remind myself I exist outside of my children and deserve to be photographed without feeling self-absorbed! I got bangs this year and it helps me remember that I love my full rosy cheeks and the gap in my teeth. And I hope my girls see their mom who chooses to believe in herself, even on the off-days.

dear my lovely may-girl,

I’ve typed and deleted this a hundred times because I cannot find the words to express all the ways I love you, and all the things you mean to me. I could go on and on forever about how proud you make me, how impressed I am by you every day. I am so deeply lucky to know you and I cannot believe I get to spend EVERY DAY as your mama.

this year, you’ve become a big sister, stopped wearing diapers, and are officially in a big girl bed. you are a wicked conversationalist, and you carry patience, peace, and grace in your perfect little pocket and share it with whoever you can. you love your baby elvie so much, and have transitioned into your role as a big sister better than I’ve adjusted to having two babies, it’s just been the best to watch.

three years ago, I was so afraid at the prospect of having a little baby to take care of. How would I do it? I am chock full of fear, anxiety, and insecurities and I had no idea how I was supposed to raise a little girl as I carried these things without sharing an ounce of them with you—yet here you are, trying to hug shadows (literally), unapologetically running into every room and taking up space in it as the most full version of yourself, and making everyone you meet laugh along the way. You are everything.

your favorite color is purple, you love bugs and witches and monsters and fairies and sweets and pretending, and you can put on a one-baby show like no other. I can’t wait to see where you take your clever brain, overflowing heart, and endless imagination in this world.

anyways, I could talk about you until there’s no breath left in my lungs, but I just hope you know how magnificent you are. happy (11 days late) birthday to this exceptional little person who made me a mama, and who rocks my whole universe every second of the day 💜✨I love you I love you I love you by @kaesmyth

meet Miss Elvie Lenora May Smyth 🪻🌙

she’s here and she’s the cutest. she makes grumpy stink faces like her namesake, my Mamaw, and has terrible gas and all 9lbs5oz of her bursted into the world while this song I love so much was playing in the background.

we’re all healthy and doing well and we cannot wait to introduce Elvie to her best big sis.
