How often do you let yourself play without feeling like you need to control the process and outcome?

It can be easy to fall into a never-ending refining trap; stuck in a loop of perfecting every detail, curating each intention, shaping the process before we’ve allowed ourselves to see what can emerge from it.

@kaetmac and I created a photoshoot that embraced the playfulness and the discoveries of the process, helping to quiet the fearful controlling voices.

We gathered key ingredients: the whimsical props & veils, and the ballet pointes. We knew the locations. And we had one emotional red thread for our session: to connect with her divine femininity, with her body, and step into her powerful womanly self.

And then we made space for magic!!! The kind that happens when you play, let go, and let yourself be guided by the moment. Welcoming the natural light coming through the foliage, the gushes of wind making the veil dance, bouncing ideas off each other in the moment. Kaet danced and moved her body in ways she felt compelled to and gosh!! how beautiful it is to be able to witness and capture that.

First glimpse at my somatic portrait session with @mathildelaprte 💗 I’m used to pin up work, but Mathilde’s process is all about healing and being present. We weren’t after that perfect pose, that sucked in tummy, that sultry look. All I had to do was be present with myself. After trauma and body issues, this is a constant struggle for me. To just be in my body. Mathilde eased my anxiety. We decided on a shoot in Epping forest, so I could feel like a powerful fairy queen. I’ll treasure these images forever.
