Woooooo! DragonCon 2026 baybeeeee!

We were at booth 734 this weekend. Tried out a new setup! Also had a little shrine to commiserate an AI booth getting kicked out last year. DragonCon truly blessed. Human artists all the way 👩‍🎨

We also gave out our first home made badge ribbons.

Making these as rings and pins for my next event, Dragoncon!
They're also up in my etsy.

Some Lore: I was one of dozens of artists who reported a booth at Dragoncon 2025 for selling AI images in the Pop Artist Alley. The one that was famously kicked out. Last photo is of me next to the empty booth after they were removed.

I'm tired of people trying to pass Gen-AI images as art and products in artist alley/conventions. It's the same old grift that people have been doing for decades, but in a new font. It used to be art theft, copy pasting, printing images off google. Now it's generating AI images and claiming that they've made it themselves.

I think its necessary for people to be making art of all skill levels. Bad art made by humans will always be infinitely more meaningful than boring AI garbage.
If you want to be an artist you don't have to cosplay as an artist, you just go ahead and make something yourself. In all this discourse I really hope that the people who tried to sell AI images will learn a valuable lesson. Scamming people isn't worth it. Deceiving customers isn't worth it. It's a terrible business practice and people WILL find out one way or another. Work on something sustainable and truthful to your audience instead. Have some faith in your own abilities.

As consumers the best thing we can do is not support these scams by not buying from them. If they can't profit off the scam, they will eventually give up and do something else.

Hi new followers! I made this sticker last week to bring to my local city council meetings. We have a couple proposed data centers in our neighborhoods and many of my neighbors and strangers have been meeting up to speak against it.

Sorry folks that said they wanted to circle back on Sunday. I won’t be able to stay the full remainder of the day. The photos of a booth in this post are of my own booth. I will not be posting the vendor who was selling stolen art publicly. I am posting the stolen art in case people bought it without realizing it was stolen. The original artist is @/valeriakarasu .

People who sell ai and fake products at conventions are scamming their customers. They are eroding the trust between vendors and consumers and ruins the market for people who actually created their own products. It is a vendors responsibility to vet and source their products. If they made a bad business decision by not vetting their sources, that is on them. It should not fall to the customer. If customers at large cannot trust that products are real in the artist alley or vendors spaces, it devalues everything for everyone.

Value deflated -> artists make less -> artists cannot afford to keep making art -> less cool art for everyone.

To artists out there: keep making your weird unique art. The world needs more people like you now more than ever. by @kafaid

One of my piggies, Kaneda, passed away yesterday. The vet said he likely had some kind of spinal cancer. He was almost 7 years old and featured in some of my guinea pig art. He was a very sweet and funny pig who was up to no good with his brother Tetsuo. He spent his last day consuming greedy amounts of veggies. I'm gonna miss the funny little guy.

Thanks everyone who has shown such great support of my guinea pig art. Hold your little furry friends extra close for me. by @kafaid
