85 hectars of old growth forest of douglas fir stands above Anderson Lake along the Highline Road - connecting the St'at'imc traditional unceded territory between the communities of N'Quatqua (D'Arcy) First Nation and Seton Lake Indian Band (Shalalth/Seton Portage) within the St'at'imc Nation. Over 40 people gathered for the first public meeting with BCTS regarding the proposed plans - many local area residents both Indigenous and non- Indigenous, some who traveled distances, joined in the conversation.

Diverse concerns were raised by everyone in response to the mixed narratives presented: the need for fire suppression measures and harvesting trees for BCTS revenue. Great discussions that brought everyone together in a good way.

This is National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration weekend... How about re-naming to "Indigenous Lands and People's Day"? We need to honour and respect both the Lands and the People who were excellent caretakers since the beginning of times. The Land and the People are One, interconnected and not separate
