With this month being suicide prevention month, I felt compelled to share that I recently lost my dear buddy, Ryder. I honestly don’t think there is a word that could describe how lovely he truly was. He had the goofiest and most contagious giggle I have ever heard. He was an incredible listener, but I most of all enjoyed when he would tell stories or talk about the things he was interested in. Hearing Ryder talk about a movie he liked or a musical he wanted me to listen to was something truly special. He saw the little details in everything and would truly light up when he could share them. Ryder was one of those people who was naturally very authentically kind and supportive. He offered a kind of friendship that was so refreshing and beautiful that you couldn’t help but want to give him a call. Lord knows I called Ryder a lot. Any boy problems I had, new movie trailers, and boring everyday stories were talked out in detail over our phone calls. But one of my favorite parts of our friendship was that he had dreams that were just as vivid as mine. We would talk a lot about our crazy and surreal dreams and nightmares, and eventually it became routine to tell each other almost every single one. The last time I ever talked to him I told him about a nightmare I had. Ryder was truly one of a kind. The more time passes, the more I hear stories that just reaffirm that the friend I had was one of best people I could’ve chosen to spend time with. I will always feel so lucky that one of my greatest friends was so funny and honest and loyal and just a joy to be around. I wish I could tell him how highly I think of him. I love ya pal, and I’ve cherished every single memory so much more than you could have ever known. Thank you for everything, Ryder 💕
